The New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) has called on the federal government to strip Zohran Mamdani of his citizenship and deport him.

On Tuesday evening, Mamdani, a 33-year-old self-described democratic socialist, declared victory over Andrew Cuomo, former governor of the state of New York, in the Democratic primary for the 2025 New York mayoral election.

The outcome, one of the first major Democratic primaries since Donald Trump returned to office, is being considered as a barometer for the party's potential recalibration nationally, at a time when it remains ideologically divided about its future.

Remember when they all claimed they had no problem with LEGAL immigration?

Well yeah, they had a problem with any kind that makes them lose.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 15 points 2 hours ago

The mask is off! Strip them of their citizenship and deport them to a third world prison? What a fucked up party they have become.

That’s fascism

[–] lmuel@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

This is more or less unrelated but nonetheless very important:

Should we tell him that his makeup was swapped for a bucket of shit? I’m not sure he’s able to smell it but we can certainly see it.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 11 minutes ago* (last edited 11 minutes ago)

apparently the smell is something else. some next level shit, if by next level we mean 'in his pants'

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 21 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Why do they hate democracy do much?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 18 points 3 hours ago

Because they can't win if they keep it.

[–] ShittDickk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

128 Democrats were told by their handlers to let trump do yoohoo's dirty work.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago

So fucking sick of the peter pan party

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Sure, Piss Off 9 Million People surrounding the DC area, sounds like a great idea lmfao.

they're afraid.

[–] monotremata@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 hours ago

It's not just Fox News. Bezo's Washington Post ran an editorial, written by "the editorial board," about how Mamdani would be "bad for New York and bad for the Democratic Party," claiming he would destroy public transit, reduce the number of grocery stores, drive away big businesses, depress low-skill employment, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and of course that this would discredit all the other young candidates across the country. The WaPo's threat earlier this year to make their editorial page aggressively pro-capitalist and anti-public-good was apparently very much in earnest.

[–] 14th_cylon@lemm.ee 34 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (2 children)

angry ceo threatens to close grocery chain... well, that will show them 😂

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

If he closes wouldn't he be out of a job? Lol

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Watch that be something super small time as well, like a guy who owns three convenience stores within about a mile of each other.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Those Jims are about to get Slimmer.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 46 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

As a naturalized US Citizen, this is why I couldn't sleep well on November 5, 2024, and haven't ever really had a good night of sleep since the next morning, when I saw the election results.

[–] jnod4@lemmy.ca 38 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Citizenship doesn't exist under a tyranny. There's only people inside the circle and people outside the circle. And the circle constantly gets smaller

[–] Zer0_F0x@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Basically PUBG, but with more guns

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 30 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I hope Zohran gets a group of armed bodyguards. Sooner or later, ICE will try to disappear him.

[–] notarobot@lemm.ee -1 points 2 hours ago

It's probably illegal to resist and illegal deportation

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 45 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

I've read that Democrats are also looking at arcane old rules to try to disqualify him, so if the MAGA Nazis come for him, don't expect any support from the Democratic Party.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 7 points 4 hours ago

Bill Clinton stepped in at the last minute to endorse the Dem incumbent, yeah the establishment (which is 95% of the Democratic party) won't be thrilled.

None that I have been able to find; probably just hearsay, or a misrepresentation of what a pundit said on cable news somewhere.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one -2 points 3 hours ago

I wouldn't be surpised if the DNC was actively looking at various rules to get rid of Zohran.

[–] CPMSP@midwest.social 23 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

The national party better figure out quickly that the next election isn't going to be

"Blue no matter who"

It's going to be

"More green than blue or else fuck you too!"

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

As an outsider looking at American politics, "blue no matter who" is a propaganda to condition Americans citizens to always accept the lesser evil, and to not bother to try to lobby or pressure their own representatives to be actually be better.

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

"Blue no matter who" doesn't mean "vote for the second worst person". What it means is anyone who has any shred of decency isn't a republican anymore, and republicans cannot be allowed to win at any cost, or they will very quickly backslide civil rights and start a war in the Middle East.

I think the Dems will back Mamdani, since he's going to win the primary. There are a lot of naysayers about the Democrats who think otherwise, it will be interesting to watch the space in the next few weeks.

Also, if the Republican pull his citizenship then I'm going to fucking riot.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Dems are already backing Mamdani, he already won the primary and he is himself a part of the party. Even though Bill Clinton endorsed Cuomo, who served as HUD Secretary under Clinton, he had this to say about Mamdani's victory:

"Congratulations @ZohranKMamdani on your victory in yesterday’s primary election and a well-run campaign. I’m wishing you much success in November and beyond as you work to bring New Yorkers together to tackle the city’s challenges and shape a stronger, fairer future"

~Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States of America

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

RNC promotes greens through the Badger Values PAC, the European Greens parties asked the US Greens to step down in the last election because if Harris lost then Republicans win. Can you guess how many Greens are in the US congress today? ZERO. Can you guess which party Mamdani is in? DNC.

[–] cuteness@sh.itjust.works 58 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I’m calling on the federal government to strip the citizenship of every member and associate of the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) because they are a threat to the USA.

ICE needs to step in and quickly deport them before their case can be heard in court.

[–] DistrictSIX@lemmy.zip 18 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Now that the Supreme court has approved of deportations to third countries, this is actually feasible. Maybe Uganda would like to welcome them. Or perhaps Libya.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 5 points 4 hours ago

What has Uganda done to deserve such mistreatment?

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 27 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

That's how you know he actually might get something good done.

[–] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 10 points 9 hours ago

Exactly. If MAGAt morons don't like the person, you know they're probably the best choice.

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Republicans start being revolting, very early in their political careers, it seems. Maybe they are born that way.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 11 points 7 hours ago

Raised that way.

[–] M137@lemmy.world 14 points 9 hours ago

A photo of Trump next to a normal (both in looks and mentally) person never stops being surprising, hilarious and disturbing. We all know he both looks and behaves like an absolute clown, but most photos of him are of his goons and/or other dictators (real or wannabes) who all look ridiculous so you don't get that direct comparison.
