Summary

Bradley Bartell, a Trump voter, says he does not regret his choice despite his wife, Camila Muñoz, being detained by ICE after their honeymoon.

Muñoz, a Peruvian citizen seeking a green card, overstayed her visa due to the pandemic. Bartell criticized ICE’s inefficiency but still supports Trump, hoping he improves the system.

His story highlights Trump’s mass deportation policies, which have led to arrests of nonviolent migrants and even legal residents.

Muñoz remains in ICE custody as her case proceeds.

Criticized ICE inefficiency

Sounds like he regretted getting married and wanted her deported sooner

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 10 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Poor girl married a racist who doesn’t see her or her race as human, she better run

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I have zero sympathy for women marring assholes. All the Melanias are just as fucked up as the pieces of shit they are married to.

[–] psoul@lemmy.world 27 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Is this a new technique to get away with all the money in arranged marriage?

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 1 points 3 hours ago

Maybe not just that, but any of those international 90 day marriages that end up on TV too.

Heck, could be what Trump plans with Melania too lol

[–] 60d@lemmy.ca 11 points 4 hours ago

Please eat my face more, daddy jaguar!

The mental gymnastics are real. Confirmation biases confirmed!

[–] JuBe@lemmy.world 48 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I hope she finds a healthier relationship.

[–] Aliktren@lemmy.world 28 points 7 hours ago

And a good divorce lawyer

This is how all of these creatures are... They will never admit they were or are wrong. Trump is a disease that rots their brains.

I say this as someone with family that voted for him. There's nothing left of who they are. Many were extremely religious Christians... I say were because worshipping Trump like they do is 100% against the teachings of Christ.

This whole movement is taking over people's entire identity. It's sad, and frustrating, and fucking disguising.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago

It's actually shocking how closely Trump fits the description of the antichrist

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

That's one way to get rid of your wife. Snitch on her to ICE. Or at least for douchebags.

[–] termaxima@jlai.lu 150 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

“Far right man, unsurprisingly, doesn’t love or care about his wife.”

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 48 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

That would require empathy, and President Musk has declared it a WMD.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
[–] TediousTasks@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

The arrogant fuckface who thinks empathy is a weakness is also the same snivelling dipshit who wonders why people wish violence on him.

Billionaires have no fucking sense of reality. They should not exist.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 9 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

this is the thing with fascists. their spite driven voting will not stop just because they're suffering, just so long as people they hate are also suffering. telling fascists their actions will have consequences will not dissuade them from taking those actions. it's more valuable to explain how systems that stand against fascism will benefit them. tell them the left wants to pay them money to buy groceries, tell them the left wants to increase their take home pay, tell them the left wants to give them freedoms and power against their bosses they don't have.

fascists understand the system to be a zero sum game. they think the left wants to take from them and give it to others. they don't understand the left wants wipe the slate clean and remove the game from the table, replacing the game with food and drink.

you can't move them off their spot by telling them fascism is a scam. they know it's a scam. but it's the scam they know and their propaganda streams are telling them the left has an even worse scam. i know it's scary, and we'll never move everyone off their spot, but we have to wake people up. as someone who was woken up, these were the strategies that worked for me

[–] cabinet_sanchez@midwest.social 1 points 5 hours ago

Thanks. You should make your own post about this

Kelly/The Onion comic where the guy is happy they're deporting his wife

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 25 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I don't CARE if Trump Jails my Wife or Kills my Parents! I LIKE his Family Values! And by Family Values I mean Raping Women and Children and KILLING Trans Kids! THATS the ONLY Family Values I care about!

-Republicans trying to Save The Children!

[–] IHeartBadCode@fedia.io 3 points 6 hours ago

The only thing they like about Trump is the afflicted pain. Even if they have to endure the pain, the fact that someone else is also suffering is exactly what they like.

Family values, religious values, morals... None of that honestly matters to them. They simply want people to suffer.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 59 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Seems like that leopard hasn't eaten enough of your face.

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com 46 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

Or he just doesn't really love her and maybe he already has his sights set on some new lady.

I wouldn't even rule out that he or a close family member might have been the one to call ICE.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 34 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

IDK, I think this is a great example of how insidious the republican propaganda truly is. Going by whats in the article, it seems like he really does love his wife. The issue seems to be that ~~he's fundamentally an idiot~~ he really believes in the myth of Trump as the maverick beltway outsider who's lack of government experience means he's the only one able to clear up the injustices and inefficencies of our current government.

Speaking with Newsweek, Bartell described the emotional toll of watching his wife being detained. "It's all been a nightmare really, taking things as they come and moving forward," he said. "We have an attorney. The system for getting people through seems to be very inefficient, so it is taking longer than it should."

Regarding Trump, Bartell said: "He didn't create the system, but he does have an opportunity to improve it. Hopefully, all this attention will bring to light how broken it is."

Seriously, this is what they believe. MAGA voters aren't the crazed immigrant-hating bible-spewing few that grab attention and make such a convenient person for us to hate, they're average people who can generally identify the injustices of the system... but have been sold the idea that, somehow, trump is going to fix them. And not just fix them, fix them so the people who let them get this way will be punished for their willful nay intentional neglect and therefore geit their just comeuppance for all the cruelty they inflicted by being such ~~jews~~ greedy, lazy, people.

.... yeah, so this guy is a Grade-A imbecile, but hes been drinking a very cloying brand of kool-ade that presents the cruelty as anyone else's fault besides the republicans.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 19 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Regarding Trump, Bartell said: "He didn't create the system, but he does have an opportunity to improve it. Hopefully, all this attention will bring to light how broken it is."

Hey dipshit, under Biden your wife wasn't deported. Trump did that.

Who does your conservative-rotted pea brain think broke it?

[–] Famko@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

In his mind, it's probably Biden's fault.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

They're often not even that partisan, they assume biden is just yet another symptom of the corruption thats been ongoing for decades. Centrists that croon on about how Both Sides Are The Same don't just mean that Dems are corrupt, it means republicans are too. Thats why they're so quick to turn on their own if they don't fall in line with trump - hes the only one that isn't an insider, so anyone that opposes him is clearly trying to defend or protect the old corrupt government, and therefor isn't really on their side.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 14 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

they're average people who can generally identify the injustices of the system

In general conservatives can't see the injustice of the system until it affects them directly.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

Well, no. You're absolutely right. Conservative media doesn't tell them about it, liberal media is (they're told) full of manipulated lies, how else are they going to learn about how unjust the system is, besides firsthand experience? They're effectively denied any other avenue to find out.

[–] Soulg@ani.social 4 points 7 hours ago

The question then becomes how many times does that scenario need to play out before they finally realize what's actually happening?

I firmly believe something needs to be done about the thousands upon thousands of churches preaching MAGAism and pretending it's Christianity. So much of what's wrong can be directly traced to that.

[–] alvvayson@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 8 hours ago

Fair enough, maybe I was too harsh.

Thanks for doing the research.

These fucking people prove how thin the line between stupidity and evil can be.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 3 points 4 hours ago

It's not even a line, it's an overlap in a Venn diagram. A fairly large one.

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 13 points 7 hours ago

I thought maybe she was briefly detained but no, she's been in custody for a month and may still get deported. Her visa expired 5 years ago.

[–] Fingolfinz@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago

What a dedicated little cult member

[–] lachica@lemm.ee 7 points 6 hours ago

What does she think?

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 4 points 6 hours ago

Stupid is as stupid does sir.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Is a deportation cheaper than a divorce in the US?

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 1 points 3 hours ago

"She started thinking, and I didn't like that."

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 hours ago

for the taxpaying public? no.

if there in one iota of disagreement between the parties, then yes. and even if it is 100% amicable... still yes.

[–] l3m05@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Stupid or not ?! 😵

[–] doug@lemmy.today 20 points 9 hours ago

“Sorry babe, it’s for the greater good! The greater good being me not showing an iota of remorse or embarrassment or me admitting I’m wrong.”

[–] venotic@kbin.melroy.org 9 points 7 hours ago

Unless the guy in the article is posting here, I don't understand why my comment was removed. I was right, the guy looks like an incel and I'm not backing down from that opinion.

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m@lemmy.world 12 points 8 hours ago

Let’s assume he actually loves his wife, and then let’s assume she gets to stay, and gets her citizenship or a green card. Will he still support Trump after the third or fourth time ICE picks her up? They don’t seem particularly concerned about whether the person they’re abducting is here legally or illegally.

This should tell you everything there is to know about MAGAs. They will gladly put their own wife in custody to supplicate to the orange cult of Krasnov. Superman fought for truth Justice and the American Way, and none of those are part of Trump's America.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Deportation is cheaper than divorce.

MAGA is the mental illness of conservatism in its final fascist-death-cult form.

Don't look up!

Headline news, Trump voter is garbage.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.world 12 points 9 hours ago

"I mean, it's just a woman. If I don't get this one back in a while, I'll just look for another one. No biggie." --that guy, probably

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago

"criticized ICE's inefficiency" so they didn't deport her fast enough for him.

[–] eric5949@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

Now that's cult behavior.
