Scotland really should be protecting their borders better. They should have denied him a visa.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Scotland doesn’t have the power to grant or reject visas.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If only they'd had the independence vote after the brexit one.

[–] scholar@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Both were supported by Russia to weaken the UK

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would have to be right after, because the SNP are crashing right now.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that mostly because of all of the corruption they were found to be engaged in, more than any real national feeling?

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Also seems to be a resurgence in popularity of Scottish Labour, and the fatigue of two decades of Scottish Government. The electorate seem to have accepted independence has been settled for this generation, and have moved on to more pressing concerns.

There have been policy own goals too. For example, ScotRail was the first TOC to be formally nationalised, and since then has seen the highest fare increases in Britain, and a vast incompetence around new ferry procurement.

I don't know anything about Scotlands newspapers but I hope that's a big one.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 63 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Someone has added a "Twinned with Epstein Island" sign to one of his golf courses

Seriously though we should surround every inch of his golf courses here with wind farms

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Too fucking right. If you're around, there's an anti Trump protest in Aberdeen this Saturday. Starts at 12 noon at the Wallace statue on Union Terrace.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 8 points 2 days ago

I'll be helping my wee brother out with some DIY he needs done on Saturday, so I'm otherwise occupied unfortunately. Stay safe at the protest and thank you for helping make that bastard feel unwelcome

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 days ago

It would be a real shame if someone were to find out which way the obese imbecile was arriving at the golf course and vandalised it cashing him a paedo and rapist. A damn shame. I hope no one does that...

Though I'm not sure he can read anyway.

Does the US not have an extradition treaty with Scotland? Shouldn't convicted felons typically be arrested and sent back to their country for processing? 🤔

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, if you can just incarcerate him, that'd be great. Don't need to send him back or anything. If that's not okay, I know a few places that might take him in South America

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Be sure to put him on suicide watch. Wouldn’t want anything to happen to him in prison.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago

That's all right we have this incredibly high quality one frame per minute CCTV camera pointed at him. A minute should be safe enough

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 7 points 2 days ago

Britain does not extradite to the US without an ironclad guarantee they won’t be their true backward colonial selves and apply the death penalty.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This is not the point, but shouldn't the outline of Scotland be the O in National, instead of the i in National?

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's just how national is spelt in Scotland. They are a strange people.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

You think the Scots are weird, head down to the other end of the island and get a load of the Welsh. Their motto: "Rydym yn caru defaid!"

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I guess it's just closer to the center, and it would have been weird in place of the T.

[–] webp@mander.xyz 24 points 2 days ago

Hope Scottish children remain safe

[–] Stupidmanager@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Odd question, but I’ve traveled to Canada with a coworker who was denied entry because he had a felony. I wonder if Trump can go to Canada?

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

We found out when he showed up at the G7 meeting in Kananaskis last month.

For the record, you can also order political opponents assassinated on Canadian soil and be welcomed as well. Mr. Modi was there as well.

What a joke

[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yes.
He's exempted via diplomatic passport. The same would have applied to Trudeau entering the USA, as he's admitted guilt to possessing a controlled substance.

Correction: convicted felon AND kiddydiddler who should release the List.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

While basically everything is pointing at that (and basically everyone knows, including even some MAGAts), there is no hard evidence for that at the moment, and if a newspaper mentions such a serious claim they could be sued for that. Now, unfortunately, "but come on, Mr. Judge, we all know that" is both true and unfortunately insufficient for defense. I guess that's part of the reason they didn't use his entire face, and they can say it's just someone whose eyes look similar (it might even be the case, and they might reveal the entire photo). You could also say the smaller letter text under it is unrelated. I guess there is a reason they didn't mention his name in the big text one, either.

Honestly, even if they got their hands on the Epstein files, a single name entry in a list of invitees might not be sufficient for sentencing him, since simply being there doesn't immediately mean that you've done anything to minors by existing in that location. It is a great material to start a legal process or an investigation, but unless there is an actual photo, video or someone's confession in it, it won't stand on its own.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 5 points 2 days ago

I actually think it would be really cool and based to bait him into a defamation suit

Just go in there and start presenting evidence.

Flight logs, public comments, pictures, video, the testimony from the 12 and 13 year old Trump had dress up in maid outfits in a New York hotel before raping them and telling them they did a disappointing job, his very well documented habit of barging in on Miss teen usa contestants changing... Hell, he nearly admitted it explicitly on Howard Stern before catching himself

There's a mountain of evidence, and even more is coming out every day now that people are starting to care.

The new York times and South Park are baiting him, but neither one is just explicitly calling him a pedo. I think someone should take that step, so we can properly establish it as a legal precedent and plaster it everywhere

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Everyone who you think is on the list is on the list.

Just write all their names down on a piece of paper and say it's the list, if they want to disprove it they'll have to release the actual list. Except it won't, because your fake list will be an accurate representation of the real list.

There will be a lot of people on the real list that you dont expect to be or have never heard of.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Will visit golf courses". Glad he's going for something of critical importance.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Better than him doing anything government related.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 3 points 2 days ago

I suppose you're right.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Fucking brilliant! :D

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Trump would be very upset if he could read.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 7 points 2 days ago

Good for them.
