After 100% what's even the point? Margins on imported goods are already tight, after you price imports out of the market you're just increasing the number in a meaningless way.
If you're looking for logic in this administration's trade policy, you're gonna be pretty disappointed.
There's a little logic in it. What he calls the artlessness of the deal, threatening the stick, dangling the carrot. Meanwhile tasty insider trading for the posse.

What's more, they didn't just cut off the US. They cut off exports all together in strategic minerals.
Imagine you're manufacturing an end product that contains 10% of parts that are under tariffs. Your end cost goes up by 10% of that tariff value, i.e. by 24,5% in this case.
No logic. Using this as distraction as rest of administration does atrocious things. Flood media with enough bullshit and the most egregious shit gets unnoticed.

I am a PHD and what you want to do is instead of multiplying, you just add them together, which would give your $2.43 in tariffs paid.

China already said there is no point in increasing it. They have banned deliveries of new Boeing jets and are now stopping deliveries of rare earth metals as well. Won’t be able to make anything in the US anymore.

It was 240%, but he doesn't eat his pickles and the 0 got smeared. He refused to believe it wasn't a 5 after that.
I think part of this is that because they "paused" the other tariffs, they still want to feel like they're punishing a ton of countries. So that means they go from a 54% tariff on China just a few weeks ago, to the 104% tariff on China for just a few days, then the 124% tariff on China, and now the 245% tariff on China. They want to feel like they're punishing other countries and this is the only way they can get that feeling, that fix. They're fucking idiots.
Do you think we'll find out the maximum number that Trump and his ilk can count up to from this?
