0xcafebabe% tariffs, wen?
We're already at covfefe%, though
My favorite number!
After 100% what's even the point? Margins on imported goods are already tight, after you price imports out of the market you're just increasing the number in a meaningless way.
If you're looking for logic in this administration's trade policy, you're gonna be pretty disappointed.
There's a little logic in it. What he calls the artlessness of the deal, threatening the stick, dangling the carrot. Meanwhile tasty insider trading for the posse.
But whenever the other country doesn't react as a schoolyard bully would expect, they flounder. <= this is where we are now
This so-called administration has one goal: install themselves forever and bleed the country dry, right into their own pockets. Two goals. In that, they act logically.
Agreed. It’s an ignorant show of strength for brainless Trump swallowers.
China’s already halted all industry- and defense-critical exports to the US, iirc. “Fuck you, I’m not selling at any price”% tariff beats 245%. But numbers are hard. Perhaps orangeboi will figure it out eventually.
What's more, they didn't just cut off the US. They cut off exports all together in strategic minerals.
Imagine you're manufacturing an end product that contains 10% of parts that are under tariffs. Your end cost goes up by 10% of that tariff value, i.e. by 24,5% in this case.
No logic. Using this as distraction as rest of administration does atrocious things. Flood media with enough bullshit and the most egregious shit gets unnoticed.
No due process for deported migrants.
People getting picked up off the streets to never be seen again.
Orange man floating the idea of US citizens getting sent to foreign prison.
Oh, and the genocide going on with Israeli govt hardly getting any notice. Have to follow UN directly and parse through their reports.
We are only 3-4 months into this shit stains presidency/"leadership".
Chat gpt told them to do it
I heard this today, they had ChatGPT calculate the numbers for each country? Wow.
edit: https://www.theverge.com/news/642620/trump-tariffs-formula-ai-chatgpt-gemini-claude-grok
From this article:
Now whether or not this specific incident is true, it certainly wouldn’t be the first of its kind. The new administration has taken to relying on AI chatbots to rewrite government documents en masse and call shots on which government programs recieve funding and which ones don’t. They’ve even taken to leveraging AI to determine which foreign students should be deported for their opinions.
Trump recently said he thinks more extreme tariffs will cause instant business relocation to the US.
If he's negotiating with countries, then he doesn't care if they build factories here, he just wants bribes.
Trump is the worst negotiator in the history of negotiations... no wonder he had so many bankruptcies, everything is irrational and emotional.
ONE MILLION % TARIFFS!!!
China has virtually stopped commerce with the US. Out of curiosity, any math scientist (possibly with a Phd or higher level knowledge) can tell me how much is the 245% of 0?
Not a PHD, but I've worked with PHD's so that means I'm basically just as qualified.
245% of 0 is 0
I am a PHD and what you want to do is instead of multiplying, you just add them together, which would give your $2.43 in tariffs paid.
Let's see, just divide by zero and.... We're wealthy beyond belief!
/s
I still think they should increase the tariff to a billion percent and pay off the national debt in a couple days.
I'll put the nation's debt on my credit card.
"Shop like a billionaire" indeed
Lol good god drumpf is the stupidest freaking blob ever to have existed...
And I'm including pond scum and red algae bloom in that.
Chinese citizens, we implore you to do your worst memeing the shit out of the orange cancer! It's been hilarious
Republican is the pick-me party of fascists.
Like a fly trap to the sub-average IQ American.
Oh what's that? You're a dumb fuck, have no empathy because of brain damage, and really want to stick it to the man and fix everything? Vote Republican!
Time to reversal so his billionaire buddies can profit from the insider knowledge?
I hope China jumps it and goes 300%.
China already said there is no point in increasing it. They have banned deliveries of new Boeing jets and are now stopping deliveries of rare earth metals as well. Won’t be able to make anything in the US anymore.
Yeah, but sometimes you have to fight stupid with stupid.
That is an embargo in all but name.
Alright. Who's been teaching the orange how to count?
They just show him a couple random numbers on a white board and he throws a McDonald’s wrapper at the one he likes.
It was 240%, but he doesn't eat his pickles and the 0 got smeared. He refused to believe it wasn't a 5 after that.
I think part of this is that because they "paused" the other tariffs, they still want to feel like they're punishing a ton of countries. So that means they go from a 54% tariff on China just a few weeks ago, to the 104% tariff on China for just a few days, then the 124% tariff on China, and now the 245% tariff on China. They want to feel like they're punishing other countries and this is the only way they can get that feeling, that fix. They're fucking idiots.
Do you think we'll find out the maximum number that Trump and his ilk can count up to from this?
I can't imagine it's much higher than this.
Bahahaha
