What bugs me about it is believing such assistance is going on is implying the person being helped isn't good enough to do things on their own. Jesus is pretty sadistic if he helps Timmy hit that pop fly, only to zoom over and help Bobby in the outfield catch it.

It's the opposite. A file transfer starts quickly, gets near the end, and then the time to finish starts climbing.

Couldn't read the whole article, but it's interesting how politics even outside the US has tainted science to also be not worthy of trust. The science was never the question, only how it was manipulated to tell a different narrative for the current people in power. Masks are a perfect example. There are still people who question someone wearing a mask or its effectiveness because for some reason a politician told them it was pointless, even though plenty of actual research shows reality. Even just common sense will tell you that something is better than nothing, yet the cult following fools some to not even believe their own gut feelings or eyes. Orwellian.

In general it's a misfire, but the cause could be a lot of things, some more damaging than others. I've had one before and couldn't figure out the problem that caused it, but was able to restart, drive it home slowly, and not have it still flash, although I think it threw a code.

Engine light on isn't always scary, just means something has disturbed the normal course of things and might need some looking into. A flashing engine light however, that can be worse that even the low oil pressure (which is bad).

Battery just means your alternator is screwed up somehow. I've driven mine like a EV before with a charger along for the ride to charge back up. Not great on the battery long term, but for short trips it's doable.

Temp - well, that could be anything depending on if it's an idiot light or a gauge. See the needle on a gauge go up quickly, same rule as the flashing engine light. Pull over and shut down.

It's an irrational number, that much I'm sure.

Stormtroopers only miss when they're ordered to miss. Han was an idiot at that point of the movie, should have guessed like Leia that they got away a bit too easily, and if the Falcon is so fast he should have led the Death Star through hundreds of jumps before he popped back to the rebel base. He should have been doing things like the Han of ESB that made star destroyer generals look like privates.

Can we add the classic Don't Be a Sucker? Similar message about paying attention to what's happening to other people and not waiting until it's your turn.

You may be right, honestly. But I do think that there is a type of echo chamber (that we're in) that assumes people are informed or aware of things that should be obvious perhaps, but they don't see it for whatever reason. It's probably futile as you say, but I do like to at least leave the door cracked for the few that maybe just haven't gotten the right information yet. And you may ask, rightly so...how the hell can anyone be that ignorant in the 21st century? I submit that it's still very possible to have blinders on and make bad choices if your life has other priorities than what is deemed common knowledge.

It's frustrating, regardless of which viewpoint you take. We (society as a whole) could be so much better.

I don't think that approach should be discarded, but one needs to see the signs of when it's not getting through. Don't waste time on people who are fully in the cult and are lost, but still try to get to the ones who are listening to the Sirens but haven't jumped overboard yet. And yes, it's often not easy to see the difference. If they can't dig themselves out (with questions meant to make them think past the soundbites), you aren't going to pull them out.

And I'm as pessimistic as they come, but I'll still throw a nugget of facts into the mix of a conversation if I feel it could make a person stop and think even for a second. I take a bit of pleasure seeing the cogs jam up when it works.

It didn't work before. Everyone who voted for Trump seemed to forget his first term and the damage done, including harm to those voters themselves. "This time will be different" is the stupidest take ever.

The Fourth Estate has been dead a long time now. Every once in a while you get someone that pushes back , but then they seem to get quietened.

I have an older robot vacuum that has finally shown some age in its battery. The charger will charge for about 15 mins and then gets an error, but it's enough to do a decent vacuuming of the room if I charge then vacuum, then repeat once more. I can't leave it on the charger now due to the error repeating, so basically I run it dead until the next time.

So my question is, can I continue doing this since it works well enough, or is there potential problems/danger with the battery being at less capacity? I could buy a new battery, they aren't terrible in price, but if it works and is safe, why not continue what I'm doing until it completely gives out?
