It's long been said that the Democratic Party is the place that movements go to die. I have believed it since I started paying attention to politics in the late 80s and it has only gotten worse. And here we are today. I hate being proven correct.

I actually can kind of see what they're doing? So what's the strategy here? Are they wanting to do the cloture and move for a vote to the floor? But then that would mean that they are hoping GOP is going to flip that would ultimately push to a shut down. They're really hinging on GOP to have enough non-Trump loyalists to do that but I can't really see it happening.
So yeah this kind of shit is also what is caving faith in for democrats.
You're overthinking it. They don't in any way expect Republicans to sink a Trump bill. Hell, they already have a yes vote from Fetterman. They just want to lose without it looking like full complicity.
The Republicans could have made this a majority vote. They get a few of those each year, but they didn't want to blow one on a continuing resolution. Luckily the Democrats are here to give them that for free.
