That is not German humor, that is German anger.

[–] CyberEgg@discuss.tchncs.de 149 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Tbf, german humor and german anger are hard to distinguish by people who aren't used to both.

I'm actually impressed you created that one 2 years ago, I assumed you just did it for this joke.

[–] Onionguy@lemm.ee 43 points 1 month ago (10 children)

We Germans have a very good humor actually we wrote the book aboud it. A whole compendium. Thousands of pages. The most comprehensive work you'll find. It's just not a funny book.

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I can picture this very German explanation of what humour is. A technical manual on it and how to be funny, and yet not a single "lol" was had in the reading

[–] IsoKiero@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 month ago

German humour is no laughing matter.

His response kinda confirms it was exactly what it looked like:

“Frankly, they need better dirty tricks,” Musk wrote on the social platform X, responding to a post describing the “salute hoax” as “just another part of the ‘dirty tricks campaign.’”

“The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” Musk added, with a sleeping emoji.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 49 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's not like the Germans would have any special insight into Hitler and not invoke him lightly.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

hey, I'm not doubting them at all. When I first saw this headline days ago I thought. "surely it's at least plausibly deniable".

It was not. The mask is all the way off now.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That wasn't in reference to you, but Muskrat.

The only response to that should be

Straw man: Nobody accused you of being Hitler

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I mean, it's obviously trolling to begin with. What he did is undeniably similar to the nazi salute, yet he dismisses that fact without even slightly addressing it. It's intentionally lazy, and trying to conflate less-apt Hitler comparisons with an incredibly applicable one. Because he knows this approach will work for his intended audience, and he gets to chuckle to himself about being untouchable.

[–] moinmoin1@feddit.org 47 points 1 month ago (2 children)

News from today; german prosecutor is investigating against the guys who projected this on the Teslafactory for showing illegal Nazi symbolics. So: for german prosecutors it definitely was a Nazi salute.

[–] x3x3@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

So this will be added as a right wing crime in the logs? Got it

You call it what it was, a Nazi salute.

Because if he cries defamation and wants to sue, stand there in court and give the judge the finger. The judge shoukd either accept that hand gestures have commonly accepted meanings or endure the whole case while you give everyone the finger. Probably make a few wanking motions with your hand for good measure...

And i thought that's a very beautiful photoshop, even emulating the light ray.

[–] knightmare1147@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago

Same here, knowing it's a projector that everyone can see just makes my day.

Why oh why do they post on x only and not say threads or bluesky?

The engagement drives profit and funds Nazis.

I don't think anyone who considers their self decent should be using xitter anymore. They just normalise the acceptability.

[–] MoonlightFox@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think that is strange as well, the fact that this happened is important in my opinion. That's why I shared it. The video is great.

If someone finds/hosts it elsewhere I will edit my comment

[–] nightwatch_admin 12 points 1 month ago

Because of the target audience. We know this already, many others don’t. Yet. But I agree they should post it elsewhere too.

[–] Skunk@jlai.lu 15 points 1 month ago

Damn, there are comments defending Musk, saying that Tesla are the safest or that Europe is dead because of leftists.

My fellow Europeans, can we please ban them, ban X and all the US republicans, never speak to them again and just continue living a good peaceful life with the rest of the world?

[–] MsPenguinette@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Holy shit, those comments are insane

[–] MoonlightFox@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are people really this dense? It is clearly a nazi salute.

Saying "My heart goes out to you" does not negate the fact that I just showed my middle finger to someone.

People in South Africa must hate this guy

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 9 points 1 month ago

For good reason.

I hope they will make it permanent.

[–] glowing_hans@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

german news media reports this is fake picture? Is that true?

[–] Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, it's real. It was an art installation at the Tesla Factory Berlin.

[–] glowing_hans@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (6 children)

Damn you are right, this rbb (german funded media) article in german reports this in detail https://www.rbb24.de/panorama/beitrag/2025/01/tesla-gruenheide-led-by-donkeys-zentrum-fuer-politische-schoenheit-beamer-projektion-fassade.html

German police started investigating the activists for showing "Verwendens von Kennzeichen verfassungswidriger Organisationen" (I will roughly translate this to "usage of unconstitutional symbols") . Are they serious, like showing images of Musk doing this is unlawful?

[–] Muehe@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

Are they serious, like showing images of Musk doing this is unlawful?

Potentially, which I guess might have been the entire point. The ZPS is no stranger to provoking law suites, and since Musk did this in the US this might be their attempt at baiting the German jurisdiction to take a stance on it.

That said the article you linked says the police talks about having an "Anfangsverdacht" (initial suspicion), which basically means "we have heard about it and will look into it".
