They may come up with arbitrary crimes to charge him with, similar to Abrigio Garcia His own citizenship may be in jeopardy, as Trump has stated he may strip citizenship from those he disagrees with
For him personally, it's an obvious choice: Publicly support Trump, as it maximizes your personal gains
Dont overlook the simple explanation that it's a legitimate honest to god cult. Not an iota less cultish than Jonestown. The antivaxxers who lost a 6yo daughter felt no remorse either and did not change their minds on vaccines. These kinds of people have been willingly programmed into a nationwide cult. Idk what reconstruction will look like but unless it makes Sherman blush, there's no saving this country.

It's even weirder that judging by the names (wife's first name and husband's second) they are a pair of Iranian Armenians. It's not as if Trump hadn't broken every promise given to Armenians in the US.
