Worcester City Manager Eric Batista said in a statement that the city “will never” target individuals passed on their immigration status and that city officials including police do not assist with ICE civil detainments “but may not interfere with it.”

“However, it is the municipality and department’s responsibility to uphold the law and protect the peace of our community,” Batista said. “The series of events was no doubt disturbing and the footage of a family being separated is harrowing … My heart goes out to all those impacted by today’s events and the growing tension we all feel due to the national political climate.”

[based on speech given to US Senate]

"Thursday marks 68 days and counting since ANY humanitarian aid was allowed into Gaza. For more than nine weeks, Israel has blocked all supplies: no food, no water, no medicine, and no fuel.

Hundreds of truckloads of lifesaving supplies are waiting to enter Gaza, sitting just across the border, but are denied entry by Israeli authorities.

... Defense Minister Israel Katz said, “Israel’s policy is clear: No humanitarian aid will enter Gaza, and blocking this aid is one of the main pressure levers.” "

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) not only highlighted those conditions in a speech on the Senate floor Thursday but also called out the fact that the worsening humanitarian crisis "gets very little discussion here in the nation's capital or in the halls of Congress," even though Israel has spent the past 19 months destroying Gaza with armed and diplomatic support from the United States."

"Israeli occupation forces enforced a ban on the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees on Thursday by storming three schools in East Jerusalem, terrorizing children and staff as they shuttered the facilities and drawing condemnation from human rights defenders.

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, heavily armed Israeli security forces raided the schools in the Shu'fat refugee camp in illegally occupied East Jerusalem, detaining one UNRWA employee and forcing around 550 children out of their classrooms as the invaders closed the facilities."

So, we sheltered this kitten for a few weeks and she easily got a home a day ago after we announced with a poster. We just delivered and we're crushed.

PS: I just couldn't upload an image. Sorry for that too. Just wanted to expel it.

Good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT, 😁!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

On 7 May, ESA announced the signing of the agreement, stating that the cooperation would focus on activities in low Earth orbit, with provisions for potential future missions to the Moon. The announcement specifically outlined plans to work together on the “interoperability of rendezvous and docking systems to allow their respective spacecraft to work together.” Other near-term areas of collaboration outlined in the agreement include astronaut training, analogue space missions on Earth, and parabolic flight training.

In addition to near-term collaborations, ESA also revealed that the agreement could pave the way for missions to India’s planned Bharatiya Antariksh Station by European astronauts.

ESA’s agreement with ISRO comes less than a week after the Trump Administration released a proposed budget that would slash funding for NASA.

In response to the White House’s proposed NASA budget cuts, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher wrote that the agency will continue to forge strong ties with space agencies from around the world. And in a subtle rebuke of the Trump Administration’s proposed cuts, Aschbacher added that ESA was committed to being a “reliable partner.”

I don’t know why we’re not talking about this more. We have a steep decline in fertility, a rapidly ageing population, and, out of Covid, we are seeing the rise and rise of departures,” says Massey University’s emeritus professor Paul Spoonley, a leading sociologist.

“Parts of New Zealand are beginning to empty out, they will suffer stagnation or are in decline. The question for me is – will the number of New Zealanders leaving the country begin to come back?” Spoonley say

I ended up buying on the Gold Coast becase NZ housing was too unaffordable, back just before Covid.

Covid saw NZ housing prices then go from ridiculous to statospheric, so now I am in Tassie. Not been looking since but interested in the exoerinxes of others.

I'm an Aussie's that spent some time in NZ and was looking to move there full time, so a different take I guess and keen to here from locals.

Sources say: new rule being voted on right now. Source managed to copy the text of the new rule being voted on from a screenshot before it was deleted.

Rule #X: NSFW art, photos, and video will be allowed on all communities if it's funny

Admins discussed the definition of the word funny and then the definition of NSFW. Depictions of nude clowns were considered - admins vetoed amendment which included provisions for NSFW art, etc, of people who are funny, but the NSFW content being depicted is not. Vote is still split.

Readers who are following the results of this ballot would be advised to wait until the ceremonial vape cloud rises from the basement window of the shittiest apartment building in Virginia. This sacred and beautiful ritual means that voting has concluded and updates are sure to follow.

Explanation: A lot of Internet People say that The Incredibles is objectivist (Ayn Rand's ideology) because the heroes fight against a revolutionary who wants to make everyone equal by giving people superpowers.

What they miss is that this "revolutionary" is a billionaire who made his fortune selling weapons to world governments under the table, and his only motivation for saying he'd sell his weapons is to make money and spite his enemy. There's no reason to think he would follow through, and selling powers doesn't mean everyone gets them. It means everyone with money gets them. Syndrome is proposing a world where rich people have super powers. That's just the plot of Vampire: The Masquerade.

Syndrome is co-opting leftist rhetoric to make himself look like a hero, while not actually understanding it, because he's not a leftist. He's a capitalist billionaire. And the Internet People who think this movie is bad because it praises hypercapitalist ideology... fell for the capitalist's rhetoric.
