Countries including France are said to want to tie a new post-Brexit security deal to more beneficial access to British waters, potentially holding up military cooperation.

So these are EU hosted on own hardware? That's good.

How many, if any, of the EU providers use Google/AWS/Azure as a back-end?

In short:

Three European nations have asked the Trump administration for their unspent USAID contributions to be refunded.

Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands had been partnering with USAID on a project called Water and Energy for Food, or WE4F.

What's next?

The nations have asked for an explanation from the US government on whether the funds will be spent, or if they can be refunded.

Maybe put an NSFW tag if you're going to show dead people?

Wood is a precious raw material. In Sweden, the packaging industry is destroying more and more old-growth forests to make toilet paper or cardboard. Biologists warn these ancient woodlands will no longer be able to help protect ecosystems and the climate.

Care to give an example of an EU country that illegally annexed part of another country in the last 80 years or so?

Pekka Toveri (EPP) delivers a powerful reminder: Europe cannot afford to ignore the Russian threat. Drawing on the painful history of countries like Finland, Estonia, and Poland, he rejects the notion that diplomacy alone can stop aggression. Toveri stresses the need for continued defence investments to ensure Europe's security and protect future generations. Highlighting the real power behind Russia’s defence budget, he urges Europe to stay on course. Watch to understand why he believes defence readiness is not optional—it’s essential.

If you look in /r/conservative on reddit they have a completely different view. Prices are down according to them. If you check from November. I can't be arsed to check because I don't care.

That whole subreddit is a huge circlejerk, so small doses are required or you'll get nauseous.

I'm sure Ukraine would send eggs if asked. 5 eggs for a patriot missile, 10 for a fully equipped abrams tank.

The US, grappling with an egg shortage, is reaching out to Lithuania for egg exports after Finland declined. The situation has prompted ridicule online.

Also depends on the definition of tank i think. Is the CV90 a tank in the mind of the politician who said there are 19? I don't know. Still, 19 is a lot, even if so.

[–] CAVOK@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (5 children)

The fact that we have 19 different tanks in Europe is mind blowing. I don't know what the number should be, but 19 feels WAY to high. If we're going to ramp up spending we also clearly need to make some changes to increase efficiency too.

Maybe a "Abteilung für Effizienz in der Verwaltung"? (Ok, I'm not being serious with this one)

The European Union plans to dramatically ramp up defense spending, mobilizing 800 billion euros over the next four years. The aim is to strengthen Europe's defense readiness and boost military support for Ukraine. The sharp increase signals growing concern that the bloc could also come under attack by Russia -- and can no longer depend on US protection for Europe via NATO.

Then switch to MagicEarth. Very similar, but a little less polished still. Based on openstreetmap.

Someone need to get that sweet, sweet ad-revenue though.

Annoying as it is, this seems to be the world now. I agree that this could have been a 2 min article, but it's also a little convenient for me to listen to in the background while doing other things.

Ah, so fake-ish news then. Thanks for the extra info.

If my tone sounded agressive I apologise. English isn't my native language.

I'll read through the links you sent. Thanks.
