I live in an unincorporated area. I have no other way to vote.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 30 minutes ago

That's because it's no longer a political party, it's a cult and you're either with their child rapist, insurrectionist, white supremacist ignorant bigotry or against them.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 55 minutes ago

The man's very existence is unconstitutional. He cares not a whit for constitutionality and neither do his enablers

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 1 points 2 minutes ago

He knows the GOP can't win if people actually turn out to vote, so making it very hard to vote is the name of the game for the Repugnants.

[–] zululove@lemmy.ml 1 points 32 minutes ago

That’s a merch store and trump isn’t running again his entire purpose was to bring JD Vance on to subvert MAGA culture.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Is that Zelenskyy there? Imagine having to meet with this pompous asshole in the WH and be forced to stand there and "admire" his fucking stupid old man hat collection.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 hour ago

It's not a collection. It's a grift shop. There are multiples of each item. Look at the shelves on the right too. There are stacks of books to be sold.

It's not a collection. It's merch.

no need to queue up for hours no need to travel miles. that is up to whoever oversees the elections to make sure there are plenty of local polling stations and enough to serve the people without undue waits. if democracy is important to you then maybe you should be prepared to go out of your way a little 1 day every 4 years. if 1 day every 4 years to get off of your ass and stand in a line for a few minutes is too much to ask then maybe you don't care about democracy enough to have a vote

[–] drspastic@lemmy.zip -3 points 1 hour ago

but to add to my comment, America only has 2 parties and both of them are corrupt as hell zionists who only want to stuff their pockets and keep their Epstein tapes safe.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Does he care about constitutionality?

There have been many things he's done already that are unconstitutional, and the only response from the Dems are "Well, wait for the election gais, I swear!!"

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

He owns the Supreme Court and owns enough judges in the circuit that he can basically do whatever he wants right now. The only thing holding him back is he doesn't have the conviction of the nazis at this point, he is still moving slow and pretending to care about America enough for show that he hasn't started arresting governors and senators. Yet.

He knows he's old and won't see his glorious fourth reich or whatever bullshit tarded out vision of America he has in his addled head, but there are a lot of people waiting in the wings of power to swoop in and reshape America into some kind of moronic holocaust of white nationalism, day-drinking housewife medicine, bureau-of-flat-earthism, crystals and essential oils and warplanes banana republic with too much money where everything is a corporation and everything is a product and we all live in shanties.

But online voting won't be touched?

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 50 minutes ago* (last edited 46 minutes ago)

I think online voting is not available in most states. Without looking it up, I think Oregon or Utah is the only state that allows it.

Edit : Most states have it for overseas or for people on military deployment. A handful of states have it for people with disabilities.

[–] cmeu@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

A constitutional fight is just what he's after. No doubt scotus will find the constitution does in fact grant this power to the president, no take backs, neener neener

[–] TwitchingCheese@lemmy.world 9 points 13 hours ago

"6-3 We've found that the Constitution is unconstitutional."

[–] Jakule17@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

He is still a nonce

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 33 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

That's how we all vote in Washington state. Its super convenient.

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 15 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I feel like he wants to make it super inconvenient whilst rigging the vote in his terrible favor

Guys, we're not getting him on the Epstein thing.

I mean, don't stop pushing it, it still is turning centrists and people on the right, but we have to understand that removing voting methods is one of the major steps in fascist takeover and there will be NO cases against Trump that will remove him from power or make his dedicated cultists stop worshiping him.

We beat this thing with grassroots restructuring of our states. Make some effort to get involved and get social with the people who are running your local elections. Hold some yard-sales and get to know your neighbors, do some volunteer work and inspire others to care about community. Most of all, STOP SPENDING MONEY. Stop feeding the corporate machine that is feeding the fascist dictatorship rising, stop paying for Doordash, data plans, new phones, new games and game systems, vape pens and everything else that you can live without. Shift priorities and change your habits. If someone wheels a guillotine down your main street I guess you can get involved in that too.

"Whaaaa life is miserable and my drugs and games are all I have."

Skill issue. We survived for millions of years in harder conditions without these things, and if you don't shift priorities you will lose ALL OF IT. Starve the monster and it will weaken and we will have our nation back.

[–] Scotty_Trees@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I think you underestimate how much damage this regime is creating. All the programs gutted and shuttered (so far) might not even come back, it's not as simple as turning something off and on again. Some crucial programs we've got taken away are already lost. And the damage being done in just the first year is still only the start. Everything from Projeckt 2025 is still being actively done. Remember when P2025 was mentioned everywhere? Now it's crickets, because it's nearly game over for at least a generation. It's good to remain hopeful in difficult times, but be very wary that it's going to get a lot darker when this regime feels the walls closing in. There will be bloodshed and it will be an ugly mark on our history.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Where? How?

[–] quick_snail 4 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

I'm blind. What does this say?

[–] despoticruin@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

There is a picture of stars, overlaid with a purple tone and retro-futuristic geometries including some overlapping triangles in the upper middle of the image, with the bottom third composed of a wireframe ground as if to simulate an old vector videogame.

Over this image, in an aggressive sans serif font reads:

"DAMN, THAT'S CRAZY! WHERE ARE THE EPSTEIN FILES?"

[–] Repelle@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Apologies, I’m usually better at adding descriptions. I’ve edited it, and it says: Damn, that’s crazy. Where are the Epstein Files

[–] quick_snail 1 points 2 hours ago

Thanks. If you're wondering why your image posts get down voted, that's probably why

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 4 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

If Trump was the only one in them; we'd have them by now. I agree with the pressure on Trump because obviously he's the fucking president. But I really wish this pressure existed prior to this pedophile being president. I really think until the recent media coverage about Trump anyone on the left was treated as a Qanon nutjob if they said their was more to it. (At least treated that way by mainstream media). I'm glad we are here. But I'm also sad it took so long.

[–] compostgoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 42 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Cool. Elections are administered by the states though, and my state guarantees mail-in ballots in the constitution. Sooooo, good luck with that, I suppose?

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

If the Save act goes through I don't see how they couldn't do similar with this. I imagine the argument would be the same, that they are not taking the administration of the voting away from the states, just setting a standardized required method. I don't think he'd be able to do it via executive order legally, but I dont know who would stop it. He could just have the house/Senate pass it like the save act if they so wanted. Your state constitution doesn't matter at that point. We like to say it's a free country but it took us 4 amendments just to get to a point that still basically says our people don't have the right to vote.

The constitution didn't have a right to vote.

The bill of rights didn't have a right to vote.

The 15th amendment (1870) said we can't restrict voting based off Race.

The 19th amendment (1920) said we can't restrict voting for women.

The 24th Amendment (1964) said we can't restrict the voting by taxing polls.

The 26th Amendment (1971) said we can't restrict voters over 18 (previously 21).

Most people think this means all those people have a right to vote, but it is really the government doesn't have the ability to explicitly restrict those people from voting.

If U.S. citizens had the right to vote none of those amendments would have been necessary and we would be free to vote and our arguments would hold up in court easier. But the U.S. has long perpetuated the lie that we are free. We are a "democratic Republic" where the government can, has, and will try to restrict our freedom at every turn if it benefits those in power.

Tldr; If U.S. citizens had a right to vote, we wouldn't have had amendments, the Supreme Court would have ruled a long time ago that any act restricting U.S. citizens from voting was illegal.

[–] compostgoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

The ‘if’ in ‘if the SAVE Act goes through’ is doing a lot of work. The recent bill that was passed was only able to be done through budget reconciliation, because you only need 50 votes plus the VP to break the tie. But for bills outside of budget reconciliation, you need 60 votes to end the filibuster. Barring anything unforeseen (recognizing that breaking norms is the norm for this administration), there’s no way I could see it getting through the Senate.

More distraction from the Epstein files

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

The Epstein Files are a distraction from the attempts at a fascist takeover.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Sure but it's also a deliberate attempt at subverting democracy.

You don't need to worry about rule of law and popular public sentiment if you're "Dictator For life" and if you think only silly countries with brown people have those, we're all about to get a really rude awakening.

[–] candyman337@lemmy.world 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's not a distraction, it's just more attempts at eroding democracy so that Trump's term and Republican's control doesn't end. The Epstein files is only worth something if Trump could be successfully prosecuted or impeached, which we seen won't fucking happen. Yeah they matter, but this is not a distraction, they've effectively moved on. It's done, they've gotten the prosecutor fired, and their star witness is on """work release""" probably resuming human trafficking
