/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Okay okay okay.

It's a funny meme, but Picard had more game than Kirk and it's not even close.

Kirk was a super nerd who did super nerd shit to beat a unbeatable test.

Picard got into bar fights with nausicans and threw down with klingons.

The only reason anyone thinks it's the other way around is their first officer.

Spock was the super level headed logical voice of reason, and anyone looks like a bad ass hunk in comparison.

In contrast, Riker would bang anything with a pulse that was willing. Arguably anything femme enough, or at least masc-stereotype enough, that also wanted him, was open for The Riker Maneuver. And anything standing in his way either gets intimidated or beaten down.

I challenge anyone to find mea being that looks like a slutty hothead in comparison to Riker.

Listen here you little shit...

Definitely out-sluts Riker, I can't see Riker hooking up with an insectoid.

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 3 points 11 hours ago

Yeah Riker has nothing on Captain Jack.

I won't stand for this horndog Picard erasure.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I don't remember all of them, but only a couple of those are legit he got game...

  • Jean Grey was a mate designed to fall in love with the person she first saw

  • Ardra was a con artist

  • Luxwanna, while weirdly in love with him, that scenario was to piss off someone else, nothing more

  • The last panel, that was a mental simulation of someone else's life he was living and they were already married before Picard was forced in.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago

Absolutely. Some of those were more to highlight his mystique and appeal. The simulation... he did eventually accept it as his reality and had kids. Is that coercion since it's part of a historical record? Very curious.

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 14 points 16 hours ago

Right?! Picard could fucking get it.

Kirk was described by one of his peers at the Academy as "a pile of textbooks with legs."

Picard got stabbed in the heart during a game of space pool and had a laugh about it.

Kirk barely survived encountering Trelane by getting Trelane's parents involved.

Picard tangled with Q on a regular basis and continually maintained the respect and admiration of a nigh-omnipotent being.

Kirk fucked around.

Picard fucked hard.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 13 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

He only laughed because he knew his life was back on track from Q fucking it up.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 10 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

He tells the story to Wesley in an earlier episode and includes that he laughed.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

Yeah, that's because he knew he was on the right track. Prime directive baby, can't reveal details to big mouth crusher.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 7 points 15 hours ago

I never thought of it like that.

[–] dylanmorgan@sh.itjust.works 17 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Janeway and Sisko aren’t in this scene because they’re out doing actual starfleet shit.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

By "Starfleet shit" you mean breaking the Prime Directive and committing genocide? That tracks.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I mean with the Borg, genocide really is the only option. I think it's stupid that nobody ever bothered to just build a fleet of piloted, cloaked warp missiles. The pilots don't even need to die, they can be in warp-capable shuttles that detach from the stealth missiles, leaving them to saturation-slam into every piece of Borg bullshit in system at warp 9.

VOY s5e15 "Dark Frontier"

Janeway employed the beam over a photon torpedo method. Likely, they will have adapted since.

"So, for the rest of these movies, no more diplomacy. You're going to make me a goddamn action hero!"

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 17 hours ago

That feel when you've been cucked by a ghost.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

Season 3 of Picard refutes part of panel 2. Also, dozens? I can only remember David, though I’m not as well-versed in TOS.

After TNG there were no new generations. That ship might as well have been on a religious cruise.
