Thank you, I was wondering about that, yes!? πŸ˜„

On a more serious note, I suspect that this is a part of the reason why we are seeing democracies failing all across the globe - the general populace is too selfish and short-sighted to do anything about what is coming, thus paving the way for people willing to make hard calls (even if at first they seem to be ignoring the climate situation, nonetheless what they pave the way to open up to likely seems like it could be gaining support due to this impending doom scenario looming over the horizon).

Now if someone could write a come-back that smoothly features PB&J, then I will be REALLY impressed! :-P

he was elected, and still has a huge faction of moronic supporters somehow

This is the key. Behind Musk is Trump, behind him is We The People (e.g. if Trump disappeared then JD Vance would simply step in, or Donald Trump Jr, Desantis, Ramaswamy, Rubio, etc.), behind them is social media, and thereby Putin, and after him is climate change that we cannot afford to ignore while trying to get our house in order.

Perhaps this is why the Fediverse is so crucial to help stay independent of knowing only what "they" want us to know. Although so far the tools are only developing extremely slowly, and the vast majority of people seem to prefer e.g. the pretty Bluesky over the likes of Mastodon, Lemmy, Friendica, etc. And from the perspective of trying to find info on topics not related to which Linux distro to pick or casual chatting, I can see why: the content creators choose elsewhere more often than here.

But we do what we can to try to move forward as best we can.

Egg prices will be lowered... and henceforth carry the risk of Salmonella.

That's solid advice:-)

That's the thing: what is happening right now, is doing so at the behest of We The People - who shouldn't be wanting it to happen, but nevertheless, they DO.

I heard that Nixon's impeachment was similar. Before it happened people absolutely refused to believe it. Then when all the stuff came out, they were shocked, but they believed what the news media has said.

Since that time, the game has changed... people heard the facts about Trump, and refused to believe it or refused to care if they did. So long as the libs are sufficiently PWNed, it doesn't matter what else happens: we will continue to shoot ourselves in (previously) vital organs, just for spite.

Exactly as the people funding conservative media sources seem to want to happen...

Not just Linux, but you obviously have to use the correct distro of it, which obviously is...

correctAre you shitting me right now, why would you click that!? Allow me to explain in this 50 part manifesto why I am so very smart and everyone else is beneath me...

That said, X is legit an Alt-Right Nazi bar. Even as we here are an Alt-Left one. I suppose it simply comes with the territory.:-|

That is an interesting word - not "just" another word for collaborator but "Aurally it contrives to suggest something at once slippery and tortuous." - thanks for sharing:-)

We may soon be past the point where protests will have much effect. But not yet - most of what I'm saying is more for the future, while for now protests are absolutely helping:-).

I've done well over an hour before (one way), but it definitely takes planning so not anywhere close to casual. At that point, perhaps other transportation may be used to return. And/or even if a daily/weekly occurrence, it takes discipline to do things like leave on time and stay informed throughout the day to handle weather events, plus wearing certain clothing to handle sweat and sun and rain etc. Biking is definitely preferable to walking for that level of distance/time, though I've done both.

More routinely, and perhaps with little notice, maybe... 20 minutes? (one way) It's hard to say bc it depends on what stores are where, whether the purchases will fit comfortably into my bag, etc. But I'd leave at a moment's notice for such a trip if need be and the conditions are conducive to it.

What about you: what's your cutoff?

So... there's that, at least.

At least, it makes as much sense as anything else right about now...

Setting aside the obvious one of Florida, I would guess Ohio bc (gestures wildly around) it exists.

(I don't mean to suggest that these are necessarily true)

(not my OC)

Rather than put my answers, I will leave space for you to jump in directly with yours:-).

I'm not talking like 10 of them, just one. Even for historical reasons.

Edit: I suppose you could answer any way you like it, but fwiw I meant like an American flag. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²
