[you eat food containing fear, that's why you're scared]

Vegetarians in absolute shambles.

[–] Keld@hexbear.net 8 points 10 hours ago

They're used to it

I love when research confirms folk beliefs that have been around for centuries.

Noshitsherlockology is the funniest branch of science

It's so funny that some random peasant that would have only survived to 40 years old at most 400 years ago could have told them they didn't need this research

You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There’s more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!

Recently did a bit at work where Jacob Marley misinterpreted that as weight related insult. We were riffing on classic lines being taken too literally or wrong. 'I come to bury Caesar, not praise him' crowd - "yeah! Fuck that guy!" "Who's digging the hole?"

"Alas poor Yorick, I knew him well."

"Did you know he had like 15 dogs?"

Gives you vegan nightmares.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 15 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Is that like when I dream I ate meat and then feel guilty about it when I wake up?

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 13 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

I've been vegan for over 5 years and still have this dream at least once a month lmao. I'm starting to think it's the vegan equivalent to that dream about failing a college class because you forgot you were taking it.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 11 points 12 hours ago

Nowadays, I have both of those in my recurring nightmare catalog!

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 11 points 13 hours ago

Nah that's a vegan's nightmares.

Vegan nightmares are just nightmares that don't eat animal products.

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 11 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

That sounds worse than regular nightmares. I’ll stick with regular cheese and moral ambiguity, please

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 5 points 13 hours ago

Imagine the xenomorph from the movie Alien, except they're vegan instead of doing chest burster shit.

[–] schlongjohnson@hexbear.net 8 points 15 hours ago

whenever i eat a ton of pizza my dreams always start popping off

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Does vegan cheese have the same effect?

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 8 points 13 hours ago

Nope. Cause it's made of fundamentally different things.

God I only vaguely remember why these mouse Ashley memes exist lol

With nothing beyond the knowledge of the effects of the opioids in salvia and that there are casomorphins in much cheese, this seems pretty natural; doubly so if the subject learns where cheese comes from.

Mama's revenge. 🐄

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 10 points 17 hours ago

Initially this looked like someone doing the cheeseslap meme for Terrified Stock Image Man.

And I've heard of this happening. A person in another Lemmy instance I'm in mentions having cheesemares all the time
