I did this recently. I enjoyed it. Everyone else disliked it.

Ended up growing back the beard

[–] CarbonConscious@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

In a similar situation. I can see it coming though, because it turns out I have a very unattractive neck line. So for now it's stache, clean cheeks, and neck beard. Not ideal but it kinda gives me a Muskateers vibe, which I think is cool.

I've always had at least a goatee, but I yearn for the stache only life.

Also want to cut my long hair for something shorter and easier to wear in the heat, but that notion has proven extremely unpopular with the people in my life, so it's been on hold for a while.

I too had long hair which I chopped. Unfortunately this was what the people wanted.

Ive tried every single beard style with quite a few hairstyles. I still dont know what suits me. I just stick with the basic ass side part (or bald rn) plus a beard (of varying lengths, I love it looong).

The joy of having a beard that goes over your shoulders as you ride a bike is immeasurable. But I look too old with that.

What I'm saying is, let's all do radical leftist (facial) revolutions together in solidarity!

I am always down for revolution

the winsome move is to remove all of your body hair, including the hair on your head, even removing your eyebrows, except you leave a massive horseshoe mustache. like a goddamn walrus.

wear one of those Greek fisherman's hats made out of leather and round, mirrored shades. even indoors.

it may not work at all, but nobody will make eye contact with you at the family reunions or work gatherings, so in a way, you've won big.

Get you a man who looks like this

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

winsome

I need to use that word more often. I had forgotten all about it.

Edit

I checked my bookmarks. In 2022 I made a note to myself that said basically the same thing. Haha.

Here's how I do it:

  1. Grow mustache
  2. Only shave with an electric shaver thats kind of old so you have permanent 5 o'clock shadow

That's it in two easy steps

This is what I came in to say. It's a great combo if you can get away with being scruffy

[–] Monstertruckenjoyer@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This is correct, works great

Also let the beard grow out a little bit at times to add a touch of unhinge to the look if you can pull it off

I'm struggling with step 1

[–] uSSRI@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

It took me a few years, including having a mustache when my mustache wasn't ready for a while. Be patient. Trust Stalin.

[–] spacecadet@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

It helps to be movie star handsome as well

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

Looks very French

Do they all know? As long as there's informed consent, more power to the polycule.

[–] lil_tank@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

Polyamoustache

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I would love to grow a mustache but this mf grows upwards and front and itches my nose.

[–] Bruja@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

Push through it until it’s long enough for moustache wax?

[–] omegathrowaway@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I swear any stoic picture in black and white almost immediately becomes Marxist in my mind

Wdym, this is just Michael Parenti at college?

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Mustache + stubble goes hard

[–] WeedReference420@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago

I dunno what it is but I'm always too afraid to go for anything other than stubble or a full beard but I think that's very much a me thing
