Imagine letting yourself get hooked on a drug you'll need for the rest of your life and the side effect of withdrawal that you're not able to think or do tasks anymore without it.

This is how rich people feel without their butlers. And crackheads without their crack.

me who takes meds for adhd:
h-hey! :(

[–] fakeplastic@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The spirit of the comment was about people no longer practicing using their minds, not that all medication is bad or a crutch.

Me being medicated for ADHD like

Yes I get it but the comment is about AI substituting for a skill that people have and will stop using and will atrophy. It's not about corrective medicine that compensates for a legitimate need.

Which also not only destroys your world when you use it but everyone else's too.

"Electricity is a drug and everyone is addicted."

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

So like most hard drugs?

[–] fullsquare@awful.systems 2 points 2 days ago

also withdrawal can just happen when some random datacenter catches fire or disappears in a sinkhole

Gock and Ball Torture.

I was so focussed on the misspelling of "losing" that I missed the chatGBT.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, it's not missspelled; they're worried about releasing "chatgbt" into the wild.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Ahh, it makes sense now.

[–] stinky@redlemmy.com 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

it drives me nuts.

takes nothing to fix it:

It takes multiple people doing the laziest thing possible for these misspellings to end up in the data stream.

[–] Carrot@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

While I admire the lengths you go for correctness in your memes, I think in this case the misspelling of losing and chat GPT are the joke

Wake me when we get ChatCBT.

[–] Sc00ter@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago

How about ChatCBD?

Storytime: I was helping a colleague with a tech issue and did a screen share with them.
I see they have grammarly installed on their comp. I think - ok, I get how that can be helpful. You know, that vs which and making sure you use e.g. or i.e. correctly.
Then, I proceed to watch them type. They type out a sentence and get 3 words horribly wrong. Not complicated ones. Words like 'responsibility'.
Now I realize that's their work process. They just don't know how to spell. They type things vaguely correctly, wait for the lil red line to show up, and then right click to the right spelling.

AI is cancer.

[–] WarlordSdocy@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean I don't think autocorrect is AI, I'm pretty sure Grammarly's AI stuff is mostly around like tone and rewriting for you.

It's got almost the exact same technology behind it, just on a smaller scale.

The American education system is also cancer.
