This reminds me of prior jobs. The work was good - but the management was bad and led to me hating my job. Maybe changing the team you're working for would help. Go on interviews and say that - you like problem solving but you're a one man army in current position and need to be part of a team and given leave to innovate. See if that leads anywhere. At your stage, id find a job you can retire from. You don't want to be 55 and looking for work. Look into govt it positions or other unionized positions.

You sound incredibly handy. To give some contrast: I had a garage spring break, and said - fuck that, we'll hire someone cuz I don't want to mess with it.

https://youtube.com/@footprinthero This guy talks about what he can power with solar panels using only a bit of money. With enough sun, and right battery system, maybe your fridge runs for free?

Remember: with enough planning and initiative, you can make the world a better place.

I like the idea of futons. Keep the good wood, replace the fabric that wears out.

I don't know that I agree. Maybe something like a couch - those seem to have a limited life span. But a bed, table, cabinet? Those are things that a short while ago, one would assume were sturdy. I've had to throw bedframes away because the legs were made of paricle board and disintegated because they were nudged too hard. That seems off.

Is it an IKEA bed? The slats on those are crap. I'm sure there's a way to cross brace it. Or even use a piece of plywood instead.

Wooden stake from hardware store + rope + staple gun?

Only a 10 ft x 4 ft section and it took all day and 5.5 bags of mulch. Have 2 more sections to do as well. Hope I can do that sometime in the next year.

“The momentum behind utility accountability legislation continues to grow."

Can we have this for CA please?

Because Trump would be unlikely to approve them, California has no choice but to abandon its groundbreaking rules for zero-emission trucks and cleaner locomotives.

TLDR: looking for a way to share spiderman with young children without violence or inducing ADD in child.

I have a 4 year old that I have pretty successfully sheltered from media. She's watched some stuff - but think PBS instead of cocomelon - slower paced and no cuts every 5 seconds and noises / explosions / annoying blippi people. I think that's the right choice and we're doing well with it.

However, her friends, mostly boys, at day care all like to play spiderman. She gets enough about it to play along in the game. But she has never seen media about spiderman. And hasnt watched anything with violence - thats scary for her.

I'd like to share the character with her to help her with fitting in - while sticking to our media rules, in a kid friendly way. My first thought was comic books - but even those are pretty advanced for a 4 year old. I could edit down one of the spiderman movies into a few clips and show that.

But - would appreciate your suggestions. Do you have any spiderman books / media that you think are age appropriate?

You can buy brass ones so they dont rust. And no more plastic gutter clips.

I have seen permanent outdoor led lights you can mount once, and manually change which color patterns there are based on the season.
However I'm skeptical of amazon reviews and skeptical that anything outdoor can last more than a year or two. Has anyone had success with something similar? I like the idea of mounting once, using it a couple times a year and leaving it up for a purpose and not to be tacky.

Figuring out which propositions to support has never been easier. I can skip reading and vote the opposite of how those bastards suggest to.

We got an old Bob 3 wheel stroller from a family friend. Frame is a bit rusted and it's been thru some stuff, but it has been perfectly functional for us for the last 3 years. However, just recently, after taking it out of the car, one of the rear wheels fell off. Turns out one of the wheel release latches was completely loose and busted.
I was hoping there was some hacky ability to repair it - rather than throwing it out - envisioning grey market supplies or 3d printer parts or etc.
Instead, I found a website that sells official Bob parts and a replacement rear latch assembly and a video on how to install.

Less than 15 bucks later, (including shipping and tax) I now again have a perfectly functional stroller.

I know these strollers are pricey - but that really makes a difference in willingness to recommend these strollers in the future.

Also, FYI, if you're in need of a stroller wagon - the 3 seater Bob one is a good choice.

Just came across this new rule, via this article: https://www.sfchronicle.com/climate/article/california-electric-19563602.php

2027 is when they ban sale of new replacement gas water heaters.

They talk about a few solutions, like low voltage electric heaters, and load sharing plugs to share a dryer plug among the water heater and a electric dryer. So that could do it for a lot of people.
But I'd guess a surge in panel replacements will happen within the next 2 years.
Especially since new gas furnaces will be banned in 2029.

Also, obligatory Fuck PGE. We have higher rates than most of the rest of the world and it's all the fault of the corrupt PUC and PGE.
