I liked Yu-Gi-Oh abridged back in the day.
No I don't want to think about how long ago that was.

Shut up, Mokuba...
"Oh my god! It's a giant rock!"
"Oh my god! Another giant rock!"
It's still going on. They release like one episode a year (maybe it's more, idr) but it's still technically being worked on.
Sword Art Online Abridged by Something Witty Entertainment, season 1 was fantastic, but season 2 has been pretty flaccid. Goblin Slayer Abridged by Grimjack is fantastic and takes the series in a very different direction. So far it just keeps getting better as it goes on, further refining the jokes. Grimjack also did a My Hero Academia abridged, think it was called My Dumb Academia or something. I think they only did season 1, but it was fantastic. They are currently also working on a Demon Slayer Abridged but it wasn't for me. Team Four Star is also still doing DBZ content, just not Abridged content exactly. It's a show called Cell in Hell, focusing on Cell... in HIFL, living with other villains like Raditz and Frieza. Also by TFS is Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, but it was a bit too edgy for my taste.
These ones aren't really for me, but people do really like Code Ment (Code Geass Abridged) and 50% Off (Free! Abridged).
Technically, the English Dub of Ghost Stories could be considered an Abridged series because the dubbing staff was never given the script and had to just make up what they thought was going on, or so I've heard.
Ghost Stories
This one is an unintentional classic. My D&D group still has "Run, she's a ghost and a bitch!" as a catchphrase for nasty monster encounters.
Oh, no. The Ghost Stories English dub was very much intentional. It was part of a package deal for ADV and were allowed to do with it as they pleased to market it.
Ehhh, I don't see how that proves intention. Neither Fuji TV nor ADV films meant for their slapdash dubbing effort to become a cornerstone of anime comedy; in fact, that both ADV and the voice actors hired by ADV were individually given free reign pretty clearly shows lack of intent.
Did you actually watch the dub? I don't know how you can watch the show and not see the intent. Fuji TV just said they weren't interested in micromanaging the dubbing or marketing of the show. The script was written in the writer's room and the voice actors were involved. Dubs, whether legit or shitposts, don't just happen.
Found a con interview with one of the VAs. Some of the finer details were off, but jokes were very much intentional.
season 2 has been pretty flaccid.
To be frank, the source was very flaccid. The complete rewrite of the

one-sided cousin Alabama love story into a proper sibling familial love/hate story is brilliant.
Code Ment "Where are you right now!?" "I'M AT SOUP"
A classic that has not aged well, but that scene will always be great.
Kaio-what?
I AM THE HYPE!
Vegeta, no!
VEGETA YES
VEGETA ALWAYS YES!
Bitch, I’m adorable
Can’t forget the classic Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged. So many great bits.
Checking back in: first two episodes of Gundam Wing Abridged are hilarious.
Also ff7 abridged was a good time
Something Witty Entertainment is kinda the successor to Team Four Star and they have some good ones. I like their Hero Academia for instance.
Gundam wing abridged just popped up on my youtube feed, will report back after i catch the episodes that are out
See, that show would be perfect for an Abridged take. I will look into that one too
Edit: I couldn't find the full first season on the original channel, but someone else did a compilation.
I find that SnapCube's real time fandubs of games tend to have similar energy. Little more obviously ad-lib though.
For me, Sword Art Online Abridged is cannon.
SAOA is astounding simply because they took a flaming pile of shit with a Mary Sue edgelord with ZERO personality and actually turned him into a real character.
Saiyaman Saga was Sick, if you’re sticking to DBZ.
I watched about a minute before I got tired of the endless edgelord swearing. I'll try again and see if it gets better.
What is all this abridged anime series? I'm just discovering them now
It's basically fans condensing series & dubbing over them, often rewriting plot lines to be more funny and flanderizing characters. DBZ: Abridged is a legit masterpiece, can't recommend it enough (though the first few episodes are a bit rough).
"Look Vegeta, it's a Pokemon! I'm gonna catch it."
The bug planet though...
Oh, so incest is cool when HBO does it, but when it's TFS it's suddenly a scandal?!
