Korra and Asami was Nickelodeon's fault, they were scared of having the relationship on screen. If Korra came out 3 years later, they might have embraced it.

She didn't break the chain of rebirth, the writers did when they nerfed the avatar state from god mode to tiny power boost for a second. The Avatar state was never scary until Zaher had to face it 3 seasons in.

Korra is a character who constantly gets beat down, but she always got back up and got the job done. The formula for most her big fights was "get beat up, get beat up again, get humiliated by the public, get beat up again, and win by dumb luck"

Is it not enjoyable to watch the mc always take the L, that's just poor story telling. Every season was the team scrambling to keep up with the big bad, it never felt like they were going in with upper hand.

Having the world end and everyone hate the Avatar means Korra once again took an L.

I do like the new show concept, sounds like a cool story. The reset is needed to bring back the "fantasy" aspect of the world and keep Avatar from becoming a sci-fi. And an Earth Avatar in a metal world sounds OP anyways, (oh god I hope they don't get rid of metal bending, surly someone will remember)

Also having the Avatar hated, gives the story a new angle. It breaks from the pampered chosen one who gets instant hero perks in every town, we've seen that 5 times now between the shows and books.

The point of this is to take what you already bought from Amazon with you when switching.

Remember when Avatar was put on Netflix and it was #1 for a while? It more of an IP holder realizing "huh, maybe we should do something with this IP." In an more surprising turn they also gave the reins to the OG creators.

I like the concept, sounds really cool. I look forward to more Avatar.

But I worry the concept shits on Korra's legacy even more, "It's just another one of Korra's failures".

Also Jinora better have been dead before the world blew up, otherwise where was her dues ex machnia world saving bull shit???

I knew it! Sharks are a lie!

Yeah, some of us made that miskate years ago. I can transfer mp3 just fine, why can't I transfer a book file too? Lots of people entire book libraries are being held hostage by Amazon.

DRM ripping was a pain, I used some sketch program that had only worked with a specific old version of Kindle for PC to turn all my books into ebubs.

I love my kindle, but not buying books from Amazon anymore and next ereader won't be kindle.

Fun unrelated fact, kindle unlimited books could also be downloaded for USB transfer.

The one time excell doesn't assume the cell is a date.

Owner of couch; "hey do you want to model for an animated movie character?"

I was confused too.

No idea if I'm right, but if you interpret twenty as a suggestion to give the kid their $20, I think it works better.

Yes, its insane the most effective way to say "don't put that thing on my truck and go away" is a gun, or in your version "put the cart away". Both are in the wrong.

Cart guy should've left earlier, gun guy should never pulled a gun (and put the fucking cart away)

The solution is Settings -> Account preferences -> Show read posts?

I've posted a few time, but the post list always remains empty for some reason.

I can see other people posts on their profiles.

Basically looking a calandar that stays on the deaktop, and can show events (Otherwise I'd just use a wallpaper). I don't need much interaction with it, if any, essentially just open the actaul calandar program. Sync with iCal is a big plus.

While FOSS is ideal, I'm open to anything free (that can be firewalled or is actually private (unlikely, I know))

I found one that used windows 7 widgets, but it was too small and didn't seem to work right anyways.

Android Tablets (lemmy.world)

Does anyone have good experience with android tablets, and possibly replacing the OS? I see some interesting options from Google, lenovo, one plus, etc... I imagine the pixel one will be the easiest to load a new OS to, but I also wonder about the tablet support of things like lineage or graphine.

The hardware doesn't have to be groundbreaking, just good enough to be my "travel laptop" for movies, comics and general interneting. I don't want a laptop, as I often like to sit in chair/bed to read comics or watch movies and a keyboard would make that awkward.

One of my main concerns is the update support - my iPad has been getting updates since 2017, a lot of the android manufactures are promising a pathetic 3 to 5 years. I don't want to be "software bricked" in 5 years (I.e apps eventually requiring an Android version I cannot update to)
