My body is an autonomous collective. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical biological ceremony.

We're only pretending to be in control. It's like being the spokesperson for an organisation trying to explain what all the different departments came up with. But on the other hand, if the spokesperson makes s compelling argument, the rest might fall in line.

Bloody peasant!

My body contains several warring factions, each with their own agendas, each conspiring to undermine the other.

Why just last night my hand kept forcing my mouth and liver to process lethal amounts of alcohol, and all the other factions just stood by and did nothing. I believe the brain even cheered, and I wept for I was at their complete mercy.

There's an organization that is demanding immediate action to combat body change. All evidence points to regions growing larger than they should, and while some can look in the mirror and straight up deny anything is wrong, most are too set in their ways to change their habits. Some scream that it's a mental health issue, but they won't invest time to correct that, either, those hypocrites

Rule by fear. You do have the power to kill them all, make some threats.

We meet again, MTK, for the first time, for the last time...

That’s why drinking cures my depression. I kill a few brain cells to keep the rest in line.

[–] BlueKey@fedia.io 1 points 3 weeks ago

That's the motto of Natural Killercells.

[–] mrbubblesort@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

My cells know better than to start any shit. They saw what I did to the appendix when he started acting up.

Autoimmune diseases: 'off with her head!'

I'm being held hostage by the cells' survival instinct.

I drown mine with alcohol when they start acting up. Oh you think you can kill me? Well watch me take you fuckers with me!

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 7 points 3 weeks ago

I'll drink to that

Honestly if you actually accept and embrace this and start treating your body better because you realize it’s actually in charge and taking care of it takes care of you life gets a lot better

Gonna write itself a Magna Carta!

All governments are fundamentally homeostatic but prone to sudden decompensation due to the various feedback loops they contain going wild after a certain threshold is reached. A sufficient external insult can overcome this homeostasis of course, just like underlying cancer, dysfunctional regulatory system, or an auto-immune disorder can. But it will still attempt to compensate until the system breaks down.

This might be the bit already, but I unironically think the body is a great metaphor for how society should run!

E.g. different cells have different specializations, but every cell gets the nutrients it needs.

I Will Fear No Evil by Robert Heinlein.

An old man's brain is transplanted into a young woman's body. When he wakes up he discovers that she's still in there...

[–] Malgas@beehaw.org 4 points 3 weeks ago

I thought I was an autonomous collective.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

My cells are governed by light level... mostly.
