Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Uhhhhhhhh! The Nazis did this. anyone who disagreed, caused trouble, or eventually was Luke-warm to National Socialism was seen as "sick", "degenerate", or " deranged". This was a classification that meant death for some, exile for others, and terror for anyone who witnessed your fate.

Basically. They're trying to associate dissent with mental illness just like they've been trying to associate LGBTQIA+ with obscenity.

Which means the mentally ill will be the next "then they came for" for republicans and the next "under the bus" for democrats.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 7 points 1 month ago

Yes it's ableist and unforgiveable

[–] salamandermander@lemmings.world 20 points 1 month ago

It's a classic move by totalitarian states, Fascist Italy and the Soviet Union used the same tactic (North Korea continues to use it). And unfortunately it was pretty effective. No one really believed the people shut away were actually crazy, but they sure were scared of being disappeared to an "asylum", "psychiatric facility", or "reeducation camp".

I think this study should research people who are so obsessed with supporting trump that they lose touch with reality

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

By far, the more dangerous side of the coin

[–] shiroininja@lemmy.world 55 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The last person to introduce TDS legislation got busted soliciting a minor for sex. Let’s see what she gets

[–] loaf@sh.itjust.works 48 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’ve run out of ways to explain my absolute embarrassment for the state of this country.

[–] b3an@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Same. I don’t understand how this is even happening. It feels like a parallel earth.

[–] Embargo@lemm.ee 45 points 1 month ago

Root cause = DJT is a horrible fascist. Solution = A bullet.

[–] Cheesepuffs@lemmy.zip 41 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the people that tried to assassinate trump people with right wing affiliations?

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

They've had their epiphanies. Still 77million of those idiots to go.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

And the second guy was a total nut job. The scope was literally taped to the rifle.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 41 points 1 month ago

Much like Florida's campaign to make trans identity into a mental illness, this is a long con to give prosecutorial power against people at a later date when they decide the mentally ill are, "useless eaters" as the Nazis called them. It may seem extreme, but RFK has already signaled a disdain for neurodivergent people that's blatantly ableist and borderline eugenicist.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If someone is a hateful prick and you greatly dislike them for their words and actions then it is a natural reaction, not a "syndrome".

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

It’s like being in a highly dysfunctional family. They do crazy shit then blame you for your natural response and tell you that you’re the problem.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemm.ee 29 points 1 month ago

They've been setting us up for years. "Liberalism is mental illness." Stalin also sent many dissenters to die in mental hospitals.

I unironically support this insofar as actual academics conduct the study. It would be hilarious to watch the GOP in Congress try to suppress the report and then it gets leaked after it concludes correctly that TDS is just a made up term and there's nothing deranged about disliking the inhumane, greedy, sociopathic machinations of the most powerful man on earth whose demented whims crash markets and violate human rights. Paying money to find out why people dislike a legitimately evil person when people will just straight up tell you but you don't want to listen is too funny.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

probably woulndt be legitimate scientist conducting said studies anyways.

probably a quack doctor.

Just another arrow in the traitorous regime's quiver when imprisoning/trafficking/killing anyone that doesn't prostrate themselves before Orange Jesus.

Soon your racist shitbag MAGAt family members will be able to call a hotline after Thanksgiving dinner accusing you of TDS and you'll get a nice visit from the police, then never to be seen again.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 month ago

The GOP can fuck off and die.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

Couldn't possibly be that he's a piece of shit. I have evidence.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Trump taking about Taylor Swift, congeess passing ridiculous bills, they are trying to distract that SCOTUS ruled that trump can't use Aliens Enemies Act to deport people.

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Cannot shake the feeling that this is an onion article, despite believing 100% that it's real.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yeah, this totally won't be abused to lock up opposition. I mean research into why the most divisive asshole in recent history cuases division is obviously a sham, especially from the group that thinks research is having a conclusion and then finding evidence to support your conclusion.

Fuck these bastards

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago

Those last three words times five.

[–] PussButton@lemmy.org 13 points 1 month ago

And somehow republicans don't see how this is problematic?

[–] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 13 points 1 month ago

You're deranged if you can mentally bury the rotten corruption in full display.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

The only derangement is among the MAGAts in politics all trying to shove their faces betwixt Trumps flabby cheeks at the same time.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

The simple minded projection from these conservatives...

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Don't worry guys the name describes the lawmakers /s

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago
