I've seen worse tbh.

Looks fine to me, just needs another coat of paint.

Don't use feces for anything load bearing.

[–] deranger@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 weeks ago

Poop has been used historically as a building material (eg wattle and daub) and is fine for load bearing applications provided you do the math.

Wow, that's a sharp pencil

[–] GreatRam@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

It's mechanical

The person in the photo needs to cut their nails.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Why?

We live in the age of madness and disdain, I feel like having a bunch of little stabby things on the end of your fingers can be useful. Also more useful for digging without a tool.

This is, of course, spoken by someone who bites their nails.

[–] Critical_Thinker@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago

Rotten wood in some sort of wooden structure, probably load carrying.

Not sure, looks like a pencil, but the sharpened edge doesn't check out.

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's a Papermate Sharpwriter. A mechanical pencil that you advance the lead by twisting the end

(Yes I know this is a joke thread, but for those who genuinely want to know)

Meh, they're ok. There's a spring inside that makes it have some "give" when writing so you're less likely to break the lead. Eraser is ok quality. It's a thicker lead too (0.7 iirc). They are meant to be disposable though which is dumb, although you can force it open and refill it if you're stubborn about it.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

They're useful for when you need to write a long way in pencil without the line getting fat or taking time to sharpen. Like maybe an essay exam in bluebooks. Its been a long time but iirc there's room inside for extra leads and maybe also a spare eraser.

[–] fuzzzerd@programming.dev 2 points 3 weeks ago

Adam Savage likes them so much he has at least one maybe two videos on his channel dedicated to them.

The fact they're disposable mechanical pencils annoys me, but they are decent writers with a good eraser. You can buy them in packs of 20 for a few bucks.
