do it. unironically. it's worth whatever it costs.

these are the same bozos that have an entire ocean but manage to run into each other with their ships. same with planes in the sky.

absolutely zero chance the military has the logistical capacity to do this with everyone watching and not completely balls it up, breaking all kinds of shit, and getting a tank stuck, unable to maneuver out without destroying even more shit.

this is an incredible opportunity to publicly damage the reputation of the military as a competent institution, lifting the veil on imperial decline for everyone simultaneously, and only a reality TV bozo would take the chance.

I hope all 50 of those helicopters are actually V-22s and ordered to fly in a tight formation on a windy day and something really funny happens

Do it. The troops will hate it so much. That will be months of early morning or late evening marching practice on top of all of their normal duties, just to march through a hot swamp in June. Lmao

The military gives some of the best walking lessons in the business.

Step one: declare you're cutting costs and excess spending in the government. Cut social services and end any program that benefits the public good

Step two: crash the economy and increase the price of everything across the board

Step three: arrange a parade on your birthday that will cost millions if not billions of dollars and will likely fuck up public infrastructure

Step four: profit???

People: we were promised bread and circuses, but we've only gotten circuses.

US: anyway, here's another circus.

[–] THEPH0NECOMPANY@hexbear.net 5 points 9 hours ago

When all you have are clowns it makes sense that all you get is a big circus act

The only way he could get more than 2,000 people to show up is to order them using the power of the office.

Remember ... Trump will NOT pay his bills.

He will promise road repairs when the tanks damage them ... but will not pay.

According to the plans, as many as 6,300 of the service members would be marching in the parade, while the remainder would be responsible for other tasks and support.

He wanted a parade for himself in his first term but it was too expensive and the tanks would wreck the roads.

In his first term, he proposed having a parade after seeing one in France on Bastille Day in 2017. Trump said that after watching the two-hour procession along the famed Champs-Elysees that he wanted an even grander one on Pennsylvania Avenue.

That plan was ultimately dumped due to the huge costs — with one estimate of a $92 million price tag — and other logistical issues. Among those were objections from city officials who said including tanks and other heavy armored vehicles would tear up the roads.

The dem DC mayor isn't voicing any actual opposition. Although she complained that if tanks were used - the damage would be expensive to fix.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser acknowledged in April that the administration reached out to the city about holding a parade on June 14 that would stretch from Arlington, Virginia, where the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery are located, across the Potomac River and into Washington.

Bowser at the time said she didn’t know if the event was being “characterized as a military parade” but added that tanks rolling through the city’s streets “would not be good.”

“If military tanks were used, they should be accompanied with many millions of dollars to repair the roads,” she said.
