Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Today, Miller said that his deportation was no mistake. So, they're openly lying to the courts. They're calling this dude a criminal, but he's never even been charged with anything.

Let me be completely unambiguous: We just witnessed the death of due process. The fact that we are in a dictatorship is beyond doubt. You will have to face the fascists, the only choice left to all of us now is whether we face them together, or as individuals.

Can't he get impeached for this?

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago

Legally? Absolutely.

Realistically? Not a chance in hell. Not while Republican votes are required.

I mean, if the mid terms go badly for Republicans (as they really, really should) the Democrats would take the house and could certainly start the impeachment process. But they would still need two thirds of the senate to vote to convict. And the only way that happens is if the democrats win every senate race, even the ones in safely red states. That or the necessary number of Republicans would have to decide that Trump is a liability after getting absolutely devastated in the mid terms. Given the fact that January 6th wasn't enough to make that happen, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Can he? If 220 housemembers and 53 senators refuse to hear a tree falling in the woods, does it make a sound?

Yes. And US citizens should be calling their representatives to demand Trump's impeachment (don't just complain on the Internet).

Seriously, like this could happen to anybody now. This has set a precedent and unless the republicans actually finally put their foot down against this, anyone that's "unwanted" can be stripped of their citizenship and deported. It's insane.

What does impeachment even do at this point. Dude has been impeached twice and absolutely nothing happened.

The timing of this visit suggests this was part of the deal to receive the prisoners, and watching the body language when he's talking, Trump is grinning and nodding the whole time, like this was all their planned response. Just gross.
