Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all my fellow Americans. Hope everyone who is planning on watching the big game does so surrounded by friends and family and has fun. Anyway, I've been playing Stardew Valley, I hadn't played the 1.6 update that came out a while ago yet but so far i've been pleased at the additions, especially the added dialogues from NPCs, which has breathed some life into the endgame which easily gets stale imo. Hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend and a good upcoming week

Grinding out Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC with some Total Warhammer 3 Chorf campaign on the side. One category of "challenge" in VS that I'm grinding out right now and really don't like are the ones to deal X damage or get Y kills with a certain weapon, because neither of those stats are visible in-game so you just kinda have to guess. Not to mention that it's unclear whether the evolution of a weapon count as that weapon for the purpose of the challenges.

Chorfs are pretty interesting gameplay-wise, and oddly come down closest to Skaven of all things, just with better elite infantry. The forced confederation thing in the tower of zharr is fucking busted. Once you finish the tech tree you just get to incorporate all of your biggest rivals for more or less free? One thing I've never really gotten a handle on is the "laborer" economy, and despite being at near constant war, I keep running out.

It's a bummer Chaos Dwarfs got put into the legacy factions for the Old World. They're quite strong ruleswise, but it means no new models or re-releases for them. I think the Hellcannon got put into the new Warriors of Chaos book, though.

Mostly I just want someone to make plastic kits of Knightmare Miniatures' Chaos Dwarfs that are cheap and affordable. GW should try and cash in on that nostalgia q_q

GW will not be the answer here lol, two blocks of dwarf warriors, which are originally from 2006 (I think), are $85.

One thing I've never really gotten a handle on is the "laborer" economy, and despite being at near constant war, I keep running out.

The key is specialization and happiness management. You basically want to have raw material provinces where you throw all your labour, and focus on things that reduce unrest in those places to minimize losses turn over turn. Concentrating them in the appropriate places and keeping those places locked down reduces the turn-over-turn loss.

I also usually end up sending out caravans mostly to get back labourers, a continuous feed into my machine that is better optimized and more productive than any of the trade routes could match. I end up with a surplus of raw materials so it can feed back into keeping labour up.

Good to know, that's pretty much what I was doing, but then I never had enough to really feel like the province options that cost labor to eg rush construction were worth it since I was always just around 100% at the best of times.

Oh . I have to get back into Vampire Survivors .Im currently playing Halls of Torment probably one of my fave games inspired by Vampire Survivors.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago

VS is good, the Castlevania DLC more or less doubles the number of characters and weapons. For some reason I burnt out on Halls just shy of finishing it (I'm at 464/500 achievements).

I've been thinking about playing rimworld again

[–] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 week ago

Everything eventually circles back to RimWorld.

Been planning on starting a solo playthrough of Rangers of Shadow Deep. Got most of the model kits I need, just have to put them together and paint. A local shop has tons of terrain, so I won't have to build anything, either. Hopefully I can rope a few dopes into playing some alternative wargames this way.

Still working my way through Dark Souls II. Aside from a couple frustrating parts it's been really fun, I wish I had played it when it was new instead of being a little hater so I could enjoy the online more. Other than that I've been getting back into Super Smash Bros. Melee a bit. I've been flirting with the idea of organizing tournaments that requires masks because I'd really like to play at locals again but the community here is really shitty about COVID safety (and accessibility in general tbh) catgirl-flop

Recently got a cheap HOTAS and been getting back into elite dangerous the past week or so. Joined up with Communism Interstellar and have been RPing by increasing the influence of labor unions and other in game communist parties, even though it just amounts to pew pewing space pirates.

I used to do the same thing when I played elite dangerous a few years ago. I blasted enough pirates in my vulture to buy an orca then did a bunch of luxury sight seeing tours to look at pretty places.

My last time playing, I was able to afford a T10 defender, but I'm currently lacking the funds to really fit it out + rebuy if I was to boom boom. I play with a friend, so it makes stacking missions pretty easy, but I'm just unable to enjoy the gameplay loop long enough to really make money.

Next time you're in HIP-91187 say hello to the interstellar proletarian vanguard for me o7

Finished the base game of GTA IV and the base game of Alan Wake 1. Gonna go through their DLCs now before heading into Control, and then Red Dead Redemption!

A friend convinced me to get Balatro on my phone. Now my morning reading/Lemmy time has become Balatro time.

I've beaten white stake on all color decks besides Black Deck as well as Abandoned Deck. Once I beat Black Deck, I'll move on to the other magic decks and begin upping stakes unless I get bored.

so i ended up wiping my windows machine after having butchered the shit out of it trying to block its telemetry and whatnot by removing apparently key pieces such as all the "WindowsApps" folders that you can never get back and then it breaks things like the start menu and system settings.

before I did that I backed up a bunch of my game folders but didn't realize that some games like Horizon Forbidden West put their save files in your My Documents folder which I did not back up

so i'm speedrunning through Horizon Forbidden West to get back to the same place I was at before I did all this which has taken quite some time and I think I finally just reached some new stuff late last night

Citizen sleeper 2 is pretty fun. Finished it on normal difficulty, got most of the "good" endings to the storylines, now wondering if it's worth trying a new run on hard mode.

[–] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What?! I had no idea a second one was out. The first was pretty good.

Available on many platforms, including gog (even though I got it on steam personally). It's "pricey" since it is a new release, but I found it really worth it

after my friend insisting on it I've caved in and got umineko when they cry with the mod and will start to read it tomorrow.

[–] IvarK@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

KCD2. It’s really fun so far!

[–] GuyWTriangle@hexbear.net 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I've been thinking about picking it up

[–] IvarK@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 week ago

If you liked the first one it’s a no-brainer imo. I think the volcel deputy would have a thing or two to say about it though, it’s even hornier than the first haha

[–] ryepunk@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

I finished persona 5, and that was a nice happy ending that ended up being way more high stakes that I ever thought it would be. Which I should have guessed but oh well I enjoyed the characters.

I tried persona 5 strikers, but the dynasty Warriors mixed with persona didn't really do anything for me so I have stopped.

Currently mostly waiting for monster hunter at the end of the month. I'm also moving in with my partner so gaming time is now mostly packing boxes and trying to figure out how I can move things without needing to rent a van or something. Probably end up needing a van or truck though.

There good thing is once I'm moved my computer won't be right beside my father so I will actually want to go on it and I can play factory style games again, also I can resume my trails in the sky playthrough.

I was playing random old RPGs on my emulation handheld (miyoo mini+) and ended up pulling up Ys 1 on the tbgx16 and man the simple action combat is scratching my brain real good.
