It's weird to me that the moon landing is part of this. I would expect the unconditional jingoism of the GOP would be strong enough that, even if it were obviously fake, they would insist that it was real. Or is it because it was done by nerds and Democrats and not "real Americans" so it doesn't count?

I've run into a lot of chuds post-2020 who are going "every conspiracy is true, just give it enough time." I'm not even sure they understand the implications of such a thing, they just have decided "coastal elites" believe the moon landing is real, therefore they believe its fake. I dunno. Maybe there's some underground conspiracy theory that proclaims NASA is woke and the devil. "Underground" in the sense that the theory hasn't gone mainstream. Yet?
