Yeah it's such a weirdly tight-assed response to some obviously funny tomfoolery. All it would take is for the teacher to be in on it as well. Start flipping your own coin, start calling heads or tails.
Right, the teachers joining in on it and trying to be cool would be the quickest way to make them stop doing it.
I would literally just get a two heads sided coin and flip it myself.
Oh yeah it's practically a given that I would flip a coin to determine the lesson plan, then just do what I was going to do anyway because it's not like any of them could see how it landed.
And it'd make a nice memory for years after
Heads I call mom, tails I give you a C instead of a 0.
Get a fresh quarter you can feel the orientation of in a closed fist and either flip over onto palm or open your hand to match your call.

You can also mark one side with something innocuous like a scratch (not even Twoface level) if hunting for a fresh quarter is too much.
