Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

This is the oldest excuse in the book. Just admit you want to be a girl this time. There's no shame in it. Or any reason at all to say "hur hur I want look at lady, boys gross"

Who even looks at the models? Enjoy the works around the character

[–] nao@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

Tbh what is even the difference between wanting to look at the character and wanting to be the character. Just pick the character you want to play for whatever reason

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I play female characters without any desire to be a woman. I don’t identify with the characters I play just as a ventriloquist doesn’t identify with his puppet.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Having met a number of ventriloquists, they often identify with their puppets an unhealthy amount.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Right but the fact that you marked it as unhealthy is a key point. It’s not something we should expect!

Sorry, but guy asses aren't as pretty as girl asses. Im a bi girl though, so probably not representative of the population.

[–] Ansis100@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, girl asses are much prettier than guy asses. I'm a straight guy, though, so probably an even worse representative of the population.

[–] seralth@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Guy asses COULD be just as pretty as girl asses. But no game studio ever gives guys nice asses. Literally ever.

Men MUST have flat sad buttocks. So it has been deemed. So we all sadly must suffer.

At least men get better walking and running animations. With women it's that weird boobs first knees together -waddle

idk, I would legit undress botw link sometimes just to admire

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar....

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I am legit one of the men who likes to play as a woman in games from time to time without any excuse. I have always been a maverick. I always like to go against the perceived norm and I enjoy doing something different. Playing as a woman for me is always spicing things up and a break from the usual man things, whatever that is.

That said, FemShep is the only Shep!

That said, FemShep is the only Shep!

It really not even a fair fight, Jennifer Hale is one of the best VAs in the business. Mark Meer, whose name I had to look up, just doesn't compare.

[–] Minnels@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I always play female if I can and you are right, for the longest time i wish I were a girl. Not so sure today but I wouldn't mind clothing to be less restrictive. Women can wear all kind of nice clothes and men just... Jeans and a t-shirt it is.

[–] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Wear what you want sug, I support you.

[–] Minnels@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

Since forever I have been wearing a blanket wrapped around as a sarong when I am at home. Friends never said much about it and girlfriend is supportive so there is that :)

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

I agree with you on the clothing, but it isn't a strict requirement. I've been wanting to get a kilt for the longest time, but I haven't committed. I've never had issues with my gender as a man, but I do want more clothing options easily available and more socially acceptable.

[–] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 3 points 17 hours ago

Do it, men in kilts are fucking hot!

Word. Male fashion fucking sucks!

[–] SunshineJogger@feddit.org -1 points 1 day ago

Lol. You seem to project your personal insecurities a lot here dude.

If I'd want to be feeling like a woman I wouldn't see that as something I would have to hide. Lol. Even less on an anonymous random internet thread.

Weirdo!
