Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

[–] whodrankarnoldpalmer@startrek.website 50 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I hope he feels pitchforks before he dies.

[–] arrow74@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

I'd accept him dying in the next month for any reason and being replaced by a Democrat in a special election.

But like if we can have both that's good too

[–] Pistcow@lemm.ee 64 points 4 days ago (1 children)

How could this possibly Moscow Mitch's fault!?

I can't wait till he dies so I can book my flight to piss on his grave.

I will be attending the group poop on his grave, no doubt. Rest in pieces, Bitch McConnell.

[–] Goretantath@lemm.ee 8 points 4 days ago

Definitely poop since they all have a piss fetish.

Mitch never saw a "War with Russia" bill he didn't endorse. He's old school Neocon and was wholly on board with the project for post-Soviet US global hegemony. I don't think its strictly fair to say "Russia Wins, America Loses" is his fault, because he was working overtime to get to a future in which Wall Street and The Pentagon controlled it all.

But his all-in bet on Moderate Amounts of Fascism tipped the board. He put far too much effort in winning the next electoral cycle in pursuit of a permanent Republican Majority. And when he finally got what he wanted - not once, in '16 but twice with a second GOP clean sweep in '24 - he looked up to discover the prize came with strings attached.

Turns out, the US isn't the only country that can meddling with elections and affect regime change through soft power. Now we're getting a wave of modern White Nationalism that's aligning DC, Moscow, and perhaps London and Berlin depending on how the chips fall in the next few elections. Its not America or Russia that's winning, but a cartel of plutocrats and their bloodthirsty groyper minions, in an unholy new internationalist Axis of Evil.

the deep irony is that the people electing the globalists are frothed up to do so by the fear of globalism.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not these globalists though, it's the (((globalists))) they're afraid of.

I'm pretty sure that's the "secret" notation for Jews these days but I don't run in those circles so I could be wrong about that.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 6 points 4 days ago

hey great news. i'm one of those jews they hate. yeah. that's exactly what's going on. their antisemitic fear of globalism blinds them to the real conspiracy to collect all power into a centralized cabal

Hey, I'm a newbie here from Reddit. I like your comment enough that is like to follow you, but I cannot figure out how; can you help?

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't believe you can follow people on lemmy like you would twatter or mastodon.

[–] Zendegy@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

Dang. Thanks for the info.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 5 points 4 days ago

Old school Republicans were fine with a Republican President having this power, just not Trump.
