Not really, it's going to suck economically, but there's no real risk to our sovereignty.

The US couldn't even invade us if they wanted to, unless they were willing to glass the entire southern part of the country and I'm not even sure the missile commands would even be followed to be quite honest.

The unpopularity of a ground invasion would be staggering, you would literally see attacks INSIDE the US from their own citizens rebelling against it. Hell, you'd almost certainly see defection, deception, and mutiny inside the military itself from officers and soldiers who are friendly with Canada.

Watch all these troops stream across the border, get "captured" by Canadian troops because they know it will be safe until this shitshow is over. It will make the defections to Ukraine look like a ripple in a pond.

I hope this is true.

I think it's likely the US will fall into an internal conflict before they can start a ground invasion against Canada. However, it's still a pivotal moment for us. We need to take the threat seriously and work as a country to back away from US dependence wherever possible.

I'm pretty sure Austria said the same thing back in the 30s. The current US government is very much a threat to our sovereignty and should be treated accordingly.

Austrians are ethnic Germans and most of the population welcomed the "invasion" by Germany and many then joined the German Army.

Austria was every bit as Nazi as Germany was. Don't let them off the hook.

but there’s no real risk to our sovereignty.

As long as there are people who have extreme right-winged viewpoints, and who are easy to manipulate (like Republican voters), then there can most certainly be a time when a large enough group of these people "beg for Canada to be the 51st state".

If we have a conservative government in power, they may likely go along with that because "they have the support of Canadians".

Stupid people make the unimaginable possible.

And Trump/Musk only need to create enough chaos within their own country for us to lose the support of American citizens, because they'll be too knee-deep in their own shit to worry about us.

Would love to see my local CPC MP will no doubt get re-elected then try that. Things would probable start with burning down his constituency office and escalate from there.

I, like so many others in the us, have family in canada. want to see a hot rebellion in the us? try some bs military action against canada. us leadership would face a decapitation.
