A new energy storage plant featuring sodium- and lithium-ion batteries has opened in China's Yunnan province.

The energy storage station, operated by China Southern Power Grid, is approximately 33,333 square meters in size and features over 150 battery compartments, according to CnEVPost.

The station's leader told news agency Xinhua that it has a top response speed that's six times faster than other sodium-ion batteries. It can also store up to 800,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, which is enough to power approximately 270,000 households.

PV Magazine explained that the station can serve over 30 wind and solar plants to mitigate the impact of intermittent supply. The article highlighted that the power station can adapt to changing energy access and stabilize delivery.

Combined, these benefits make it easier for cities, companies, and everyday people to have an energy source they can rely on. And one they can trust to release less planet-warming pollution than dirty fuels such as coal, oil, and gas.

I love WikiJS, even though the devs are very slow to respond to any requests.

I've tried different wiki software, but always come back to it. One of my main issues with it is that the links look terrible when shared. Since I share recipes often with my family and friends, this used to annoy me a lot.

So, I wrote this plugin to do that for me. I thought about writing an WikiJS plugin, but the documentation is almost non-existent. And I wanted to get better at Go anyway, so a Caddy plugin was the way to go. I haven't published it in the official plugin registry since I don't know if anyone else might be interested in it. But there's a docker image built and published in GHCR in case anyone wants to try it out.

I guess I'm looking for feedback. Should I publish it to the official repo? Does anyone else care about this or did I just waste two evenings again in another ADHD fueled coding spree? (I guess it's not a complete waste since I'm using it myself.) Also, in case you're familiar with Go, let me know if I can improve the code. I'm a newbie in Go.

The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called for a world congress of Ecosocialism, to be held on December 19-21, in defense of the Earth.

"To convene in Venezuela for December 19, 20, and 21 a world congress in defense of Mother Earth, a congress of Ecosocialism, which gathers here the main academic and scientific voices and the defenders of the right to life in the face of capitalism", said Maduro during an official act in the state of Mérida (west).

In this regard, he detailed that the congress will be held to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Chuquisaca decree, promulgated by the hero Simón Bolívar in 1825, to cultivate sensitivity and love for nature.

Maduro made the announcement during the launching of the governmental program called Gran Misión Madre Tierra Venezuela, with the purpose of facing the climate crisis and emergency.

The President approved a Special Emergency Fund to support rural producers affected by the recent rains.

At the end of last month, more than 8,000 families were affected and isolated by heavy rains in Merida.

At that time, the Government deployed the Andes 2025 Task Force to attend to the emergency caused by the heavy rains in the states of Merida, Trujillo, Barinas and Tachira.

Experts suspect ‘front loading’ of activity may mask deeper impact of tariffs on the US economy

As Trump published a slew of tariff letters to individual countries throughout the week, less hopeful observers sensed a reinvigorated Trump, who seemed to be channelling the spirit of “liberation day”, when he held up that gameshow-style card, promising punitive levies on countries that had “looted, pillaged, raped and plundered” the US.

These letters – all released on Truth Social and featuring Trump’s thick signature in Sharpie pen – included swingeing tariff rates of 50% on Brazil, 30% on Sri Lanka and 35% on Canada.

As in April, some pointed to issues well beyond the sphere of trade – the fate of Brazil’s ex-president Jair Bolsonaro, for example, and alleged fentanyl trafficking from Canada.

“If we compare where we are now with where we were in April, many of the tariffs that he is describing and the letters that he’s sent out are very similar to what he described then,” said Prof Maurice Obstfeld, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. “I think what this shows is that the bluster in April about, ‘we’re going to negotiate all these trade deals’, was way overhyped.”
