No. He should do what he can to push out and fight against this current regime, but nobody likes him or wants him as a president. Nobody.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Why not? I don't know much about him except that he isn't 300 years old like the rest of the Democrats.

He seems to be doing a good job in California?

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

He's just another slimy corporatist owned by the ultra wealthy, but throws a bone to the social issues of Democrats. Pretty much the same strategy that modern Democrats have had for the past 40+ years. I will absolutely vote for him in the general or support him in pushing against Trump/Repulicans, but he's one of my least favorite Democrats now.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

You've got to remember that you and I are not the average Democratic primary voter. Clearly there are plenty of Democrats who think this is a good idea.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

NOBODY.

...yeah I know just let me have something

I wish I could man but we're in a Steelers Wheel situation where there are .ml clowns to the left of us and Nazis to the right and here we are stuck in the middle of nepliberals.

The DNC has found their new milquetoast Neoliberal!

Yayyyy

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 34 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I hate how stupid my fucking country is.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 7 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah it's going to be Newsom vs Vance and the left will scream that it should have been Bernie and that they'll be voting for Jill Stein.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

No, it's going to be Newsom against Donald Trump Jr. , In an epic battle of Kimberly Guilfoyle's exes....

(Yes, she was married to Newsom, and then engaged to Junior for years before they split up)

Do you think that’s news?

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Almost like this has happened before but the Dems will intentionally not learn from their previous mistakes

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

According to the left anything the democrats will do is a mistake.

I like how the left sidesteps that whole issue by not running anyone.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Leftists have been very clear about why the Democrats are failing their voters. A party that supports Capitalism can not support workers, simple as.

You can start listening to them and stop trying to bully them into submission any time you feel like engaging in reality.

Honestly this is a good reason why the left is and will always be mostly ineffectual as a political movement.

When you're not fighting yourselves over who's the most ideologically pure you're spouting shit like this.

[–] Yeller_king@reddthat.com 16 points 5 hours ago

At this point, it's tantamount to a name ID poll.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

We really are in the idiocracy timeline.

Politicians are picked on their staffer’s ai meme game

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago

He's nothing if not a political opportunist. Really hoping a better candidate starts gaining traction though.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

While I know this is nothing more than name recognition at this point, still just ugh...

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 1 points 4 hours ago

It's kinda sad to just hope that there will still be elections, at that point...

[–] atticus88th@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

Because every candidate surging in polls 3 years ahead of the election have ever made it close to winning.

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 2 points 5 hours ago (4 children)

Dem party infighting is exactly what the GOP wants. Don’t fall for it.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 0 points 15 minutes ago

Why are you talking like this before a primary even happens? Why do you want the Democratic party to lose? What you disparage as "infighting" sane people would call debate.

There's a toxic impulse among some centrists, the kind of folks that the label "Blue MAGA" applies to. This toxic impulse is to take a very Big Brother or Trumpian approach to politics. Circle the wagons. Support the leadership no matter what. Don't try to improve the party or make sure the best candidate wins. Don't focus on holding bad actors accountable. Just vote for dear leader and everything will be fine.

You're not even waiting til the after the primary to start vomiting "Vote Blue No Matter Who."

[–] toast@retrolemmy.com 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Are you kidding? Infighting is the only thing that will lead to a decent candidate. Primary fights are great

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 1 points 1 minute ago

You’re the falling for candidate propaganda before they’ve even announced running ;)
