RULES:

I am looking for mods!

1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.

2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)

3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.

4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.

5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.

6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

MODERATORS

I made 2 separate posts into 2 relatively dead communities, and despite getting a decent amount of traction (relative), the first 2 comments in each were 100% negative towards the content.
None of the commenters had ever posted content to the respective communities.

People want content but don't realize how annoying it can be to post things: especially things that you took time to make. You have to have a pretty thick skin, and tbh no one can blame you for thinking its not worth it.

I always appreciate your posts. Don't let the haters and trolls get you down. Thanks for staying positive, and just keep doing your thing!

Totally this. If every content creator succumbed to the negative comments, there would be no content. Just ignore them, or say your peace in response if that's what you need to do.

Uplifting News has a rule against shadenfruede, so that could be why your post was not taken well there.

Well the first complaint is kinda fair, as it’s meant to be a break from the constant flood of political news.

2nd does sound interesting TBH, not sure what the issue with that would be.

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I didn't see the replies to the second one, but the image looked fake, possibly AI generated. The news was that train carriages were being converted to private shelters for homeless people, with their own beds and storage, but the image showed a row of neatly made double beds down either side of a carriage with a walkway up the middle, all of which clearly wouldn't fit inside a carriage.

Given the reactions to anything AI on Lemmy, I wouldn't be surprised if it was something to do with that.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh yeah that was 100% it. People downvote anything that even looks remotely AI generated.

Yeah, Lemmy's anti AI allergy is kind of ridiculous, like a lot of Reddit too.

I personally feel that lemmee is a human centric place. Not over on with bots or AI so I can understand this. That’s what I am escaping being here.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

IMO - I find it quiet here, on the other hand I censor myself and try not to respond for just responding. Mostly because I don’t want the place turning like Reddit. Secondly I get sick of the internet knowing so much, so the less I comment the better.

So it’s a bit of a two sided issue, not sure if others feel the same.

I also feel I haven’t mastered my settings to see the right stuff yet.

To find the right stuff, I subscribe to non-political and non-tech communities, then browse "subscribed" by "new".

click here for a list of communities that are NOT politics, tech, or meme -related.

Most are currently active (except for the ones with a * which were less active last I checked) Sometimes politics, tech or memes sneak in but they're not the focus.

It can feel disheartening and thankless sometimes unfortunately
