Putin, residing in Moscow

I'm having trouble understanding why he chose to emphasize the Russian leader being in the capital of Russia. Is it because Trump is in Florida all the time? I'd rule a country from a remote location. Like a sick island hideout with jetski ramps and soda machines. We could drink rum out of coconuts and talk like pirates. We'll rule from international waters. Nobody can call the cops.

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 42 points 2 days ago

I guess Moscow sounds ominous to cold war era boomers.

his very junior partner

Haha, Pooten got owned. Also everyone, please be very afraid of Russia because they are going to invade all of Europewtf

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 53 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Russia is the junior partner to China but also the greatest threat to Europe of all time, somehow

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 42 points 2 days ago

That's just how powerful Xi is. xi-reactionary-spotted

[–] sodium_nitride@hexbear.net 30 points 2 days ago (2 children)

And even if China is the senior partner to the country that europe cannot beat, europe can definitely beat them. All we need is unity (and infinite money to the MIC)

Look, if we're going to survive the impending onslaught by the Asiatic hordes, you're all going to need to sacrifice your Healthcare to the almighty military.

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

How much could a military cost, one trillion dollars how-much-could-it-cost

[–] huf@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

i think europe can win just by austerity, it doesnt even really have to ramp up MIC money

On the one hand I like Mark Rutte because he is such a repulsive little sycophant with no dignity that several people I know who used to be kind of pro NATO have kind of started to backtrack because they are disgusted by his actually very honest representation of what NATO is about. On the other hand I don't like Mark Rutte because it is impossible to like Mark Rutte.

[–] Self_Sealing_Stem_Bolt@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

they are disgusted by his actually very honest representation of what NATO is about.

All the literal nazis that came before him weren't enough lol

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

They don't know about them and they're not going to read up on the history, so no. But Rutte is right there, being disgusting. I can point to him and say that that is what NATO is.

[–] boiledfrog@hexbear.net 48 points 2 days ago

Rutte is probably the politician in all of Europe that I hate the most, he's such a slimy fucking freak. I hate him so much, he's the perfect embodiment of the EU, fuck him, his policies and everyone around him

[–] Cimbazarov@hexbear.net 30 points 2 days ago

It is kind of funny if you try to take on the perspective of the EU countries. "OMG China is so evil, but they offer us cheap good and treats and we cant help ourselves but buy from them, but also they are so evil and we cant underestimate them and need to stand strong, but also we wont stop buying cheap treats from them..."

That's NATO's strategy laid bare. Attempt to whittle down Russia in isolation so China can be whittled down in isolation to Russia. Iran fits into this somewhere, too, but it still hasnt entrenched itself into the Asian hemisphere.

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

if china were going to reincorporate chinese taipei they would run an intelligence campaign there to promote the standard of living in mainland china vs the island and promote the already present political party that is open to reincoporation to just sweep an election or two thus forcing the west's hand to do a messy and bloody coup which then would provide justification for violent intervention by china to liberate the island

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

No but see, they're bad guys and therefore can only bad things, if you try to understand their goals or methods, that makes you a bad guy too!

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago

I mean behind closed doors they are often like this, and have been since the beginning. The first guy was a Nazi. NATO / adjascent generals like McArthur were crude and genocidal.

They just don't have the respectability veneer cultivated by liberals. Crude behind the scenes, diplomatic and higj-minded in print or in front of cameras. Their subculture doesn't care about that.

I don't think this is actually a worse thing in any way. Imperialists being worse at PR means we can discuss what is happening more easily and openly rathee than also having to teach liberals basic media criticism. Like how no, Biden was not actually fighting for a ceasefire, he is genocidal and should be tried and foind guilty for his crimes.

[–] Andrzej3K@hexbear.net 28 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not the most important thing, but what terrible grammar lol

[–] Hexamerous@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And what's with the presentation here. Why is this (I assume) twitter comment presented as some great man telling you something profound that will be remembered. Are they putting this on a plaque somewhere?

[–] Andrzej3K@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My first thought is that it was a needlessly exact transcription of something he said at a conference, but then... it's attributed to the NY Times??

[–] deforestgump@hexbear.net 26 points 2 days ago

Imagine having this level of psychosis?

[–] grandepequeno@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

Never forget this is a disgraced PM in dutch politics

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

this is a strategy so dumb it wouldn't even work in hoi4

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 2 days ago

It doesn't matter, eurobros have already convinced themselves that he is playing 3D chess by licking Trumps ass.

[–] Parzivus@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

Did he also call up Trump and tell him to bomb Iran?

[–] iie@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago
