I was going to say west coast US has long used "like" as a filler word but the more i look at it the more I'm thinking where you place emphasis matters here. If emphasis is placed on "looks" instead of "this" then it could just as well be more British.
I can only hope that in that amount of time he's simply forgotten, but if not then yeah this works too.
