The israel flag in the name of the guy really hits. Do they need to use the EXACT playbook of the fascists around the world? A couple of years ago I would have suspected satire but satire died some time ago, sadly.

[–] HistoryPug@lemm.ee 3 points 6 days ago

Twitter is full of nazis, we don't need to keep seeing screenshots of genocide enthusiasts to know that.

Everytime someone posts a twitter screenshot, you're just feeding the trolls. Because someone had to keep using their Twitter account to take the screenshot.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

According to this Lemmy user Mastodon systematically removes their anti-genocide posts https://lemmy.world/post/30798872.

Explains why I barely see any anti-genocide content on Mastodon whenever I visit it.

Diesel is sailboat engine are generally very efficient. Most the time she probably spends sailing, but if the wind isn’t strong enough or in the wrong direction you don’t really have another option.

Source: I’m a sailor and own a sailboat

[–] LaserTurboShark69@sh.itjust.works 24 points 6 days ago (3 children)

What's it like being sail?

[–] topherclay@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago

It'sail good man, just go with the flow.

[–] CommissarVulpin@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Aren’t you legally required to have some kind of backup propulsion source anyway?

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 9 points 6 days ago

You do to sail into some ports, for example, but there are a lot of sailing vessels that are pure sail.

[–] Knightfox@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Even if it weren't a legal requirement I would hope people would have the common sense and desire for personal safety that they would have it there for a backup. I imagine our knowledge and surveillance of weather makes it a lot easier to sail if you have that information, but you could easily be stuck for a very long time if you only relied on sailing. From what I have read the Mayflower was delayed for over a month at sea due to the changing of the winds.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

You want to rely on motor in really bad weather, or when you get stranded in the middle of nowhere with no wind.

Not sure about legal requirements but it wouldn’t surprise me

Ah ha, I have pointed out a minor hypocrisy, your entire existence is invalid!

Everyone is a hypocrite. It's pointless to point out hypocrisy for its own sake.

[–] JimmyMcGill@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Is it hipocrisy tho?

Like if you say to someone that says that we shouldn’t use single use plastics for food, that they still use single use plastics for their surgery, that’s not hipocrisy. Context matters.

Of course she isn’t going to deliver critical aid to where a genocide is happening via bicycle

Doesn't even matter: https://x.com/brianoflondon

Brian got 2.1M views, Bashar got 1M and boosted Brian. Brian won the engagement game.

This is why Twitter should burn to the ground.

indigenous rights activist

Decolonizer

Zionist

Woo lad, the gymnastics of this guy put the Olympics to shame

[–] puchaczyk@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 days ago

He's only a Zionist. All other tittles are there just to make people doubt by association that being Zionist is wrong.

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago

this guy bases his """decolonial""" beliefs not on meaningful connections to the land like actual indigenous rights activists, but on blood and soil rhetoric

he’s as much of a decolonizer as far-right europeans who want to expel all immigrants

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Engagement are fake statistics. Look at the likes and retweets. Bashar is ratio'ing the Zionist 10x.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Engagement are fake statistics.

Is it?

Either way, being ratioed doesn’t matter. The troll was fed, en masse.

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Reminds me about what they used to say about Al Gore on Fox "News". They said he takes private jets. It's a bad faith argument because those people then go on to deny climate change. Also he's a former vice president, I'm sure security reasons are part of that decision. Also if those private jets allow him to be more productive in fighting climate change the net benefit of him using it may exceed the additional carbon generated by the jets.

Greta actually follows this priciple pretty well and does not fly unless absolutely necessary. In this case she is taking a boat which is one of the most efficient ways of transporting goods such as humanitarian aid.

[–] Initiateofthevoid@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Minor addition - in this case, it's literally the only possible delivery mechanism. Any other mode of transportation is functionally impossible.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 days ago

Israel should build a giant railway leading into to the Gaza concentration camp.

For environmental concerns, of course.

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

That's a good point, makes what Brian was saying about Gretta even worse.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The first name "Al" has been ruined, my first thought was "they're making AI gore?".

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I wish fonts made the difference between uppercase i and lowercase L as clear as possible. I don't understand why most computer fonts don't put lines above and below the uppercase i like I think everyone is taught in school to do.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Those lines are called serifs, and that's where the term "sans serif" for different typefaces comes from ("sans" is French for "without.") That Wikipedia page mentions claims that sans serif is more legible online, but I have not looked into the sources and don't know enough about webpage design to make any claims about that myself.

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Serifs were always considered beneficial to reading fast or for conveying info. This is debated now I think because of course it is. Sans fonts mostly stayed in the headline and ad copy toolbox until shitty screens were shitty at displaying serifs. So they took off and leaked a little beyond their true stature among font styles.

Serifs are better in the same general sense that OpenDyslexia is better as a font for both sufferers and some others. Your brain can do its thing, reading at any speed needs some of that back door stuff like serifs to stop you reading that letter (like Al and AI) and and tossing all that buffer to wonder what the fucking word is.

Just my stoned opinion as a former graphics guy from the print days until Adobe went real extra stupid.

[–] MBM@lemmings.world 0 points 6 days ago

If adding serifs to the I is bad, I think a good alternative is adding a tail to the l (like a t without the bar). Some fonts do this and I'm a huge fan.

[–] boughtmysoul@lemmy.world -2 points 6 days ago

He never HAD to take a private jet. Why are you shilling for millionnaires?
