My friend usess this argument all the time and it's so annoying... Why should the wealthy suffer for destroying the environment when you also drive a car....

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 47 points 1 week ago (6 children)

Your friend is a cuck for the rich.

Is your friend very wealthy?

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 6 points 1 week ago

Because the majority of the population always tries to copy the rich. Eating lavish meals with lots of meat was the norm in high society so now it's what everybody wants for dinner. A large manicured lawn was a show of wealth and thus everybody now wants their patch of well maintained grass, even in a desert. Flying and vacations on the other side of the planet was for the jet set so now everybody gets in economy class for holiday. Trickle down is also for habits, life style and consumption. They are the example to follow and should behave like it. It's the old concept of noblesse oblige.

Twitter is full of nazis, we don't need to keep seeing screenshots of genocide enthusiasts to know that.

Everytime someone posts a twitter screenshot, you're just feeding the trolls. Because someone had to keep using their Twitter account to take the screenshot.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

People need to stop thinking that twitter is more credible than 4chan. We need to start trolling reporters with this comparison if any of us ever get the chance.

Diesel is sailboat engine are generally very efficient. Most the time she probably spends sailing, but if the wind isn’t strong enough or in the wrong direction you don’t really have another option.

Source: I’m a sailor and own a sailboat

[–] LaserTurboShark69@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 week ago (3 children)

What's it like being sail?

[–] topherclay@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

It'sail good man, just go with the flow.

[–] CommissarVulpin@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Aren’t you legally required to have some kind of backup propulsion source anyway?

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 9 points 1 week ago

You do to sail into some ports, for example, but there are a lot of sailing vessels that are pure sail.

[–] Lv_InSaNe_vL@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I'm sure this varies widely by jurisdiction, but at least in my part of the states no. I just have a (smaller) sailboat and my "backup" is just ors and the coast guard haha

[–] Knightfox@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Even if it weren't a legal requirement I would hope people would have the common sense and desire for personal safety that they would have it there for a backup. I imagine our knowledge and surveillance of weather makes it a lot easier to sail if you have that information, but you could easily be stuck for a very long time if you only relied on sailing. From what I have read the Mayflower was delayed for over a month at sea due to the changing of the winds.

Beat me to it. If the sails aren't up you just drift if you're not under motor. If there's not enough or too much or the wind is in the wrong direction then you don't have any choice.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 68 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Ah ha, I have pointed out a minor hypocrisy, your entire existence is invalid!

Everyone is a hypocrite. It's pointless to point out hypocrisy for its own sake.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The other day you said that no one is a hypocrite so what am I supposed to believe now?

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, that doesn't sound like me. I've literally never been wrong about anything or changed my mind about anything ever.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Why would you change your mind? Right?

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Why would you go Right when there's all this Left

Only the absolutely perfect can be the enemy of the genocidal apocalypse cult. There are only two lebels of morqlity and no such thing as structural forces.

[–] JimmyMcGill@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Is it hipocrisy tho?

Like if you say to someone that says that we shouldn’t use single use plastics for food, that they still use single use plastics for their surgery, that’s not hipocrisy. Context matters.

Of course she isn’t going to deliver critical aid to where a genocide is happening via bicycle

Doesn't even matter: https://x.com/brianoflondon

Brian got 2.1M views, Bashar got 1M and boosted Brian. Brian won the engagement game.

This is why Twitter should burn to the ground.

[–] waterSticksToMyBalls@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

indigenous rights activist

Decolonizer

Zionist

Woo lad, the gymnastics of this guy put the Olympics to shame

[–] carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago

this guy bases his """decolonial""" beliefs not on meaningful connections to the land like actual indigenous rights activists, but on blood and soil rhetoric

he’s as much of a decolonizer as far-right europeans who want to expel all immigrants

[–] puchaczyk@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 week ago

He's only a Zionist. All other tittles are there just to make people doubt by association that being Zionist is wrong.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Engagement are fake statistics. Look at the likes and retweets. Bashar is ratio'ing the Zionist 10x.

The israel flag in the name of the guy really hits. Do they need to use the EXACT playbook of the fascists around the world? A couple of years ago I would have suspected satire but satire died some time ago, sadly.

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 22 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Reminds me about what they used to say about Al Gore on Fox "News". They said he takes private jets. It's a bad faith argument because those people then go on to deny climate change. Also he's a former vice president, I'm sure security reasons are part of that decision. Also if those private jets allow him to be more productive in fighting climate change the net benefit of him using it may exceed the additional carbon generated by the jets.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 27 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Greta actually follows this priciple pretty well and does not fly unless absolutely necessary. In this case she is taking a boat which is one of the most efficient ways of transporting goods such as humanitarian aid.

[–] Initiateofthevoid@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Minor addition - in this case, it's literally the only possible delivery mechanism. Any other mode of transportation is functionally impossible.

The first name "Al" has been ruined, my first thought was "they're making AI gore?".

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I wish fonts made the difference between uppercase i and lowercase L as clear as possible. I don't understand why most computer fonts don't put lines above and below the uppercase i like I think everyone is taught in school to do.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Those lines are called serifs, and that's where the term "sans serif" for different typefaces comes from ("sans" is French for "without.") That Wikipedia page mentions claims that sans serif is more legible online, but I have not looked into the sources and don't know enough about webpage design to make any claims about that myself.

because it's not the 1400s and you literally need an engine in a sailboat when docking or ferrying or, you know, when there's literally no wind.
