Is keep getting wrong the same as lying?

Anyway, good but very short article. I'm sure there are many more items left out of this list.

A huge part of journalism is avoiding lawsuits. Saying someone is lying (without proof) opens the journalist to defamation suits.

Probably. But no journalistic outlet is going to call it "lying" without proof that the leaders don't sincerely believe what they're saying.

And that sort of proof is hard to get.
