Peanut butter is a big one for a lot of weird combos, goes well with burgs, fruit, cereal, etc, hummus is a good substitute too

Mustard has some weird ones eggs, mayo, salty stuff like chips and pretzels

Waldorf salad is basically fruit, mayo, and nuts it was popular enough you can still find it some places

[–] Devmapall@lemm.ee 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is Burg a hamburger? I've had peanut butter on a burger one time from...devil dawgs I think. It was really really good.

My mom used to make Waldorf salad. I hated it. Might like it now though

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Yeah hamburgers with a little pb on top is great, hummus works good too

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Yellow mustard is great with popcorn

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 1 points 5 days ago

Maybe not that strange, but I love natural peanut butter and locust honey on whole grain pancakes. I also love an ice cream float made with Sprite and chocolate ice cream.

[–] archonet@lemy.lol 2 points 6 days ago

Cool ranch doritos + Chocolate.

Generally any sweet and savory combo does nothing for me, but as strange as this one is, I dig it. It's not bad.

Peanut butter + Raw Carrots / Cucumbers / Apples / Bananas / Cottage Cheese / Pickles / Raisins / Raw Celery

Yes I absolutely love peanut butter and eat huge quantities of it.

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

PB and apples is pretty common and one of about 2 ways I actually like peanut butter. It’s that and PBJs

[–] blady_blah@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

In-n-out french frys dipped in their vanilla shake. I got my kids to love it too. My wife still thinks I'm crazy.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

I don't eat animal products anymore but something I had previously was a pimento cheese and pickled watermelon rind sandwich and that was unusual.

[–] parmesan@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Peanut butter and spinach sandwich. Not too much spinach though

Sprite and milk. 1 part milk to 2 parts sprite give it a creamy after taste

[–] rishado@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Isn't this basically an egg cream

[–] Monster96@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

I guess? Now I know what an egg cream is so now I have something I wanna try

[–] Ceedoestrees@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

It's almost like what used to be a popular drink in Ontario and Manitoba, but nearly unheard of anywhere else I've asked. It's just Pilk with alcohol.

The Paralyzer:

1 part milk

2 parts pepsi or coca cola

1 ounce vodka

1 ounce coffee liqueur

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Honestly at first I was like WTF however I do love Sprite vanilla ice cream floats.

It's not exactly food but drinking a dr. Pepper while smoking weed leaves an after taste in my mouth that is exactly like a fig newton.

Cucumbers and honey is considered weird in other countries from what I gather

[–] whodrankarnoldpalmer@startrek.website 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Peanut butter and thick-sliced raw onion slices on whole wheat bread.

Soy sauce on vanilla ice cream.

Salami and apricot jam.

Hawaiian pizza with black and green olives.

[–] yngmnwntr@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Will second soy sauce on ice cream. I learned this at a Chinese buffet that had a soft serve machine and absolutely no dessert toppings.

Peanut butter and thick-sliced raw onion slices on whole wheat bread.

Sssssssssssundae....

As a kid I made a PB, banana, mayo, and potato chip sandwich pretty often. I fucking loved it. As an adult I'd never eat that, but occasionally I crave it.

[–] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

I don’t know about the mayo component, but I’m on board otherwise.

Cottage cheese, apple sauce and pickled red cabbage. Or sub out the cabbage for pickled beets.

I have my reasons.

My childhood nostalgia food is pasta with a bit of butter, powdered sugar and cocoa…

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Not mine but my dads: His favorite snack is cold hot dogs dipped in peanut butter. I was 10 before I convinced him to stop dipping in the communal jar of PB.

I don't like it but its also not as bad as you'd think.
