BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Hungary’s capital early Thursday to red carpet treatment despite a warrant for his arrest issued by the world’s top war crimes court.

Hungary’s government, led by its populist prime minister and Netanyahu ally, Viktor Orbán, used the occasion of the Israeli leader’s visit to announce it will begin the procedure of withdrawing from the international tribunal that issued the warrant, the International Criminal Court.

Orban thinks he's being sneaky with this shit while all eyes are on the rotten habanero and his antics.

I suppose the other option is that he isn’t being sneaky at all and is just emboldened by the current regime in the US. With everything going on this seems like the kind of thing that will get a finger wag and a promise to get to it later once some fires are put out and we deal with the arsonist burning everything down.

Trump may be a bit of an Orban fanboy, but he isn't out of step on the ICC with any of the recent former leaders of the US. Rejecting the ICC & blindly supporting Israel have been long running features of the US government.

Germany will exit it next. Orban has already provided the language, and not doing so will be incompatible with the Staatsräson.
