And he's super serious this time, for realsies.

And MAGA thought T-rump was gonna “fix” the fucking economy. 🤦🏻 Biden brought down inflation faster than any other country after the pandemic and that wasn’t good enough for them. So they elected the world‘s stupidest businessman. I guess you can’t expect much from the people who thought “let’s go Brandon” was super clever.

It is not a political ideology. It is mental illness. These people are a danger to society, and themselves.

[–] drmoose@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People tried "acceptance" as a strategy and unsurprisingly - it didn't work.

What else is there left to do? Do we just bully the shit out of these idiots until they can't live with themselves? How do you legally reduce the amount of literal idiots in the world? Force them into education programs? Mental health programs?

Biden brought down inflation faster than any other country after the pandemic and that wasn’t good enough for them.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just the brainless redhats that kept going on about inflation and how this was the worstest economy ever, it was a lot of others, too, and at least some of them should have fucking known better, but didn't care, or were actively working to get little d back in power.

I'm so tired of the people that tell me how terrible it was for Biden/Kamala to list the economy as one of their highlights because not everyone was doing fantastic (name me one time in American history where you couldn't find someone having economic hardship, FFS). The notion that staying home and pouting or voting for little d was going to improve anything is so obviously a fucking lie, one for which all but billionaires are going to pay for...

I will never buy American milk. Ever.

It has nothing to do with price, and everything to do with the US allowing the injection of growth hormones in Dairy cows which are banned in Canada.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sure, but you have to buy it in a bag.

(Stay strong, Canada, we deserve it.)

[–] SGforce@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We have the regular cartons too. The bags are for the family pack. Do Americans have a large family pack that's like three cartons stuck together?

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Not really. It's plastic gallon jugs.

[–] wise_pancake@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Those are great for road trips.

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As a lactose intolerant person, I'm horrified, lol.

[–] Psaldorn@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not sure they meant taking the fluids out of the container, friend

[–] SGforce@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Oh yeah. Forgot about those.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yes at Costco.

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I will never buy milk. Because I am lactose intolerant.

[–] notfromhere@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Lactose-free milk is a thing, in case you’ve never heard of it.

[–] ghostrider2112@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I’d stay away from most of our poultry too.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Which brands are Canadian? I've never paid attention before.

[–] BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

All of them, we don't import milk in any sort of grocery store quantity.

[–] Flamekebab@piefed.social 2 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Is it true that American milk is normally UHT milk?

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

No I generally have to seek out UHT milk if needed.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago

From what I have seen (am American and lived outside DC and in a rural town in New Mexico) mostly the UHT milk is the organic stuff as well as most of our cream, which makes cheese making with cream impossible.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I'm not actually sure, but the milk I buy isn't and most milk I've seen doesn't seem to be given they expire in days so I'm guessing not. Nutritionally, it doesn't matter but it does impact the taste at the cost of lasting a long time and I have tasted bad milk before from the big box stores.

All distractions and creating confusion... stop listening to what he says and start paying attention to what he and the people he appointed do and who benefit from it.

The clock is ticking down on a crucial but little-noticed part of President Donald Trump’s first round of executive orders — the one tasking the secretaries of the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security to submit a joint report, within 90 days, recommending “whether to invoke the Insurrection Act.”

Many of us are now holding our collective breath, knowing that the report and what it contains could put us on the slippery slope toward unchecked presidential power under a man with an affinity for ironfisted dictators.

Adding to the suspense was the recent “Friday Night Massacre” at the Pentagon — the firing of the nation’s top uniformed officer and removing other perceived guardrails (i.e., the top uniformed lawyers at the Army, Navy and Air Force) standing between the president and his long-stated intention to declare martial law upon returning to power.

Source: Is Trump preparing to invoke the Insurrection Act? Signs are pointing that way

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

In the maga fictional universe, what fucking reason would there be for the insurrection act?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago

You're a better person than I am if you can. There is a firehose of bullshit coming at us right now.

Him "thinking about" or "threatening" doing shit is a distraction until it gets to the next step. Him "moving" to do shit is him actually having started the process.

[–] Propheticus@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

What I mean is the whole threats of tariffs thing is distracting people from the hollowing out of the government and checks / balances that make it a democracy. Removing protections against and sanctions on Russia. Pouring all the goodwill and trust on the stage of world politics down the drain. Who stands to benefit from an isolated US and infighting within NATO?

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

When my car is broken I fix it myself because I'm an expert in car repair. I have a record of cars that I've fixed up for myself, family and friends. I'm an actual engineer but don't design cars lol. Anyway I if my car was broken and I couldn't fix it because I either didn't have time or didn't know how or didn't have the tools, I would not take my car to a neighbors garage or even one of those mechanics for cheap places. So needles to say I wouldn't take it to a failed mechanic business and then let one of their idiotic Microsoft word clerk/mechanics "fix" my car. Okay I would actually take my car to a cheapskate mechanic. But I wouldn't take it to a broke cheapskate mechanic with history of leaving cars in disrepair.

Lmfao is this the art of the deal?

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago

Elbows up Canada!

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

From the article:

“Canada has been ripping us off for years on lumber and on dairy products,” Trump said in an Oval Office address Friday, citing Canada’s roughly 250% tariff on US dairy exports to the country. Trump said America would match those tariffs dollar-for-dollar.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

Canada has been ripping us off for years on lumber

Lumber?! LUMBER?! The same soft wood lumber deal that gutted the Canadian industry?! The thing we took on the chin to "be a good neighbour"!?

[–] droopy4096@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

men-children at work: I'll slapnyou with bagilion-gazillion taxes on random stuff! Humanity has degraded to preschooler politics.

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 2 days ago

That's insulting to preschoolers.
