Every datum is permanent, but every law isn't.
Big Brother isn't watching you
So you don't understand how mass surveillance works? "Big brother" isn't "watching" you in real time, they're collecting and storing all the data they can en masse and having AI look at it for them. I personally object to the warrantless collection and storage of everyone's data.
They aren’t watching, but they are recording so they can watch later at their leisure and skip the commercials.

This misrepresents how mass surveillance works.
It's high-throughput big-data processing. It's not a lad sitting in a room watching you specifically.

That's half true, no one cares about you in particular but they still collect everything to have a database of all thing that could possibly care about in the future, Snowden did a great job revealing that and while it wasn't state driven you can take a look at the Cainbridge Analytica story if you want to know what's possible even if no one ever cares about you specifically, keep in mind that that's even possible with very outdated technology by todays standards!
