Sadly it seems they don't truly understand us (minimum 2 people required to order the Western Grill platter)

A hotdog wrapped in a tortilla.

edit: Jesus, one of the steaks is just named after a slur for Native American women.

Simultaneously the least American and most American food possible.

Also, TIL that word is a slur.

[–] JohnBrownNote@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago (2 children)

it's been fairly well stamped out i think. Don't hear it in media or the mask off cracker to cracker communication around here anyway, maybe it's more of a lingering thing in the plains states.

Also just sounds antiquated AF, like no one under 90 would say it

I grew up with the hiking spot for my family being slur peak and now live a day trip away from slur valley (which just got renamed) and I've never met someone who wasn't native that even knew it was a slur before things started getting renamed. You've got to be like a 1800 elo racist to use it.

i wonder what OWW sauce is...

https://www.amazon.it/WILD-WEST-Salsa-vasetti-185g/dp/B08NYMXS47

sunflower oil, water, vinegar (wine vinegar and alcohol vinegar), sugar, triple tomato paste, EGG yolk, iodized salt, MUSTARD (vinegar, water, MUSTARD seeds, iodized salt, sugar, turmeric, coriander , chili pepper, paprika), modified starches, salt, dehydrated parsley, spice extracts (paprika, turmeric), smoked paprika powder, thickener (xanthan gum), chili powder, smoke flavoring (contains GLUTEN), natural lemon.

Seems like it'd be analogous to North Carolina barbecue with the mustard/vinegar focus.

I get highlighting that and gluten as allergens but I've never seen a mustard allergy.

It just reminded me of the "GOOD post" thing

one of the steaks is just named after a slur for Native American women

only in the english version of the site?!? wut

[–] ture@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago

Weird thing is it's only called that way if you switch it to english. Was looking at the italian menu and couldn't figure it out since there were also weird names on but the one you mentioned is just called rib eye so I immediately scrolled over it.

So most probably at least nearly nobody is going to order it with that name, can't imagine them having a lot of english menues available outside the airport locations and the ones in the centres of big, touristy cities.

The only one I can even think might be a slur is using the Brazilian term for sirloin cap maybe? Feeling lost here

Edit: nvm found it, was under "grand canyon meats"

[–] booty@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Let's see if the hexbear slur filter even knows what it is

cw: antiquated slur that the hexbear slur filter doesn't know about

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squaw
