Ironically, International Workers' Day is on May first to commemorate a US labor strike/protest/massacre.
This was one of those facts that felt like pulling back the curtain and seeing Oz for who he is. When I learned this, it was like an itch I couldn't scratch. Why is the worlds labor day about us... Why is our labor day not? None of the answers to the second question felt satisfying.
Even better, the US replaced it with loyalty day
Oh Jesus, I'm learning this now for the first time... So they not only ignore May 1st and it's history but also replace it with a Fascist/Nationalist "holiday". Fucking awesome.
Not yet, but sounds like I should move it up the list. To much to learn, not enough time.
