??? "web3" was literally coined by one of the ethereum founders.
And the internet is already fundamentally distributed. Capitalism has lead us to this point where there are only 4 sites on the internet, but the technology itself is decentralized and distributed. And if "distributed" means "peer to peer" well we've had that for decades too. So no I don't think "web3" ever had any meaning other than crypto shit.
I guess I was mistaken. I do feel like I remember hearing about web3 in a p2p context before that but regardless.
I still think we should take it back
