Putin was portrayed as a hot, silly and harmless super villain until he started being a pain towards Western interests.

I think Putin is a piece of shit but the shift in media presentation is fascinating and telling.

He used to be seen somewhat as an ally of the USA against Islamic Terrorism

He was the first head of state to call GW Bush when 9/11 happened and offered support from Russia’s end. So keen to be friends with the US lol.
