Do people really not remember the NYDP shadowing and doxing De Blasio's daughter when he started talking about cutting their budget? There is a reason politicians fear (literal not figurative) taking on the NYPD, it's budget is larger than the military of some countries.

I dont remember that actually. Regardless though, his position that he will just freeze their budget is actually not feasible because of union contract negotiations. They are very likely bargaining right now and bargaining could end before he is even elected. If there are any wage/benefit/departmental increases in that contract, they are still going to get it. As far as I know, unless the city looses a huge chunk of funding suddenly (exigent circumstances), and the city can prove that they can't allocate resources to the NYPD from elsewhere, then the city will need to honor the contract.
