This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.

In comparison to the animated Mario movie, most likely.

Live action doesn’t usually translate as well from animated/rendered media.

Personally I think Zelda is better off being live action than the kind of style Illumination/DreamWorks is known for.

Other than the Toon Link games the series has always had a more anatomical art style that is rarely seen in Western animated film.

That’s fair.

Dream world would have Ghibli pick it up, or the team(s) behind Secret Level.

But we’re already in motion on this plan so just gotta cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I think their only hope is to go with a small, small story that only hints at the larger world. If they try to go epic then the movie universe begins and ends with this one entry.

I don't think they can resist the trap of going for the obvious epic world-stakes kind of story though.

I assume they'll go "Tears of the Kingdom" or "Hyrule" instead of "Ocarina of Time" or "Majora's Mask."

Which starts off mid.
