Democrats spent four years fixing shit and the American public fell for lies from the guy who wrecked most of it.

There’s no way to fix that kind of stupidity.

Democrats spent four years fixing shit

That's not how the vast majority of Americans viewed 2020-2024...

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

and the American public fell for lies from the guy who wrecked most of it.

I don't have a high opinion of the majority of Americans right now.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, it doesn't matter what your opinion of them is...

This is (pretty much) a democracy so what the majority (of states) wants is what matters.

And they don't believe the turtles pace of 80 year old neoliberals is fast enough.

We can stomp our feet and call them names, or we can push for progressives willing to fix shit fast enough that it has a noticeable result to even the average American....

Don't forget, that's always been an option.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Americans have consistently shown they don't want a progressive or socialist.

You're going to point out Mamdani and I'm going to point out he hasn't won yet.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They get ratfucked. They're really popular actually. Look at mamdani

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You're going to point out Mamdani and I'm going to point out he hasn't won yet.

If progressives are so popular why is Sanders and AOC the only ones in their party?

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They're shut out by the party. Remember when AOC got snubbed on a committee assignment and it went instead to a guy so old he died of prostate cancer just in time to give Republicans enough votes to get BBB past the house? Dude should have retired years ago!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world -5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Progressives always think democrats are the obstacle when it's usually progressives who are.

They're no stranger to hypocrisy though with them all thinking Biden is too old but Sanders is in his prime.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He literally aged out with 3 months to go before the election and got terminal prostate cancer the next year.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Biden would still be better than what we have.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We literally tried Biden and it didn't work

I would want Biden as president any day over the dipshit currently in office.

You’re going to

Realize I'm talking to a less than day old alt of an account I probably blocked a year ago...

Have fun moderating one of the fedivers's only conservative communities!

I'm sure we've talked within the last month but yes I've moved to piefed instead of lemmy.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Watching Mamdani interview Trump voters really woke me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7FcVCYqQNs

People can't see past the tip on their nose and vote on what's in their wallet today. I've had people tell me they voted for President by comparing their tax returns.

The BBB is so much worse than we're talking about. A lot of American's will get a few hundred, maybe $2,000, more back and say, "That Trump fella's the man for me!"

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yep. Which is why Biden backing out of those Covid relief checks was stupid.

Republicans don't give a fuck about balancing the budget, everything Biden spent on social projects would have been less money for the shit trump is doing today.

That's my whole point, we need a Dem president that will overwhelming help Americans rather than a cold calculating capitalist whose aim is to help just enough to get re-elected.

Moderate policy is not effective and it never has been. The Clinton years rode the dotcom boom and claimed it was because of backwards ass policy and it took the DNC 30 years to realize, luckily they did a couple months ago when voting for chair.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago

Biden still owes me $600

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes and their unawareness of employment numbers going up, prices stabilizing, companies being prosecuted for price fixing and profiteering, consumer rights being strengthened, unions being strengthened, etc, is in large part the fault of the media (and yes a fair bit fault of the party who couldn't tell anybody what they were doing).

Things were getting better, and people's view of the economy ended up being extremely wildly distorted from the real numbers by the end, people were fearful over nothing because media boosted the fear campaign from Republicans.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes and their unawareness

You can blame millions of people for not taking a slightly better choice, or devote your energy to making sure their next choice is overwhelmingly easier.

One makes you feel superior to others, the other makes life better for everyone.

One is a co.plete and utter waste of time, the other literally saves lives.

Which one do you want to pick?

[–] Kickforce@europe.pub 0 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

So voting Trump saves lives, because in the next election....

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I think you replied to the wrong comment.

[–] Kickforce@europe.pub 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

No I replied to your comment which implied you should not vote for democrats because they sick, but you should work to make people's their next choice easier.

To me that equals causing a Trump win and then claiming that saves lives. If I misunderstood, you might want to be more clear in how you word your comment.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

which implied you should not vote for democrats because they sick

Then you misunderstood my comment, you might want to remain calmer before verifying someone said what you think they said in future interactions.

Most people won't stick around to clarify after.

Which ironically takes us back on theme.

On if it's better for people to feel superior to others, or to accomplish something.

Seems I don't need to ask which you prefer

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

Weather it was Trump's criminality, COVID, or Palestine flubbed the big questions of his time
