him and marco rubio, both. gusanos, man...

This is somehow worse. Gusano implies their parents fled the communists, but these two are disrespecting the comrades that brought justice to their fathers' oppressor (I have no idea what their parents did under Batista and maybe they were still bourgie shits that just got on the wrong side of Batista).

Rafael (Ted's dad) claims that he was a part of the Cuban revolution, and that was why Batista tortured him. The idea being that he suffered and fought for the revolution, so he is an authority when it comes to criticizing Fidel for betraying the revolutionaries and becoming a new dictator.

There is no evidence he was a revolutionary, though, his account has glaring mistakes about the time and place of major events he was supposedly at, and people who knew him back in Cuba said he just did some anti-Batista graffiti as the extent of his involvement.

I mean what's a little torture among friends? but Castro took my granddad's egg monopoly

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

Not the egg monopoly!

His dad claims he joined the revolution, but it's possible he's full of shit. I personally don't think it makes that much sense for him to lie, because it's not like being part of Castro's bunch is something that gets you respect in the US.

It gains you the ability to say "no one knows how bad Castro was as me, I was there" it's the yeonmi park role
