Am I reading too much into it or is a 1500 year old figurine in a suit and helmet interesting?

I think they are only wearing a helmet, not armor. Mayan sculptures often have helmets of some sort. Usually more ornate than this so maybe this is a depiction of an actual warrior helmet meant for practical use. https://www.livescience.com/archaeology/maya-warrior-statue-with-serpent-helmet-discovered-at-chichen-itza

Til this post I didn’t know people 1500 years ago would have thought about suits and helmets…I’m not saying that they wouldnt have, I’m just wondering what the history is.

Well people definitely did, the Romans for instance. Apparently mesoamericans had cloth body armor similar to European gambesons as well as some leather stuff, but nothing metal
